Sway bar is related to the front and rear balance of the car. If you let the rear roll more than the front in the corner, more understeering;
If you let the front roll more than the rear, more oversteering;
Also, more body roll requires more negetive camber for the tires in order to extract the maxium traction.

Yeah, I got an email from Clay a couple of days ago, saying that they should be shipping out on the 13th, so no matter what, it'll be next week. Unfortunately, probably too cold and nasty for me to want to install them, but we'll see about that.

I do wonder if there are more people in line than the small amount that they will be sending out, but I'm not sure how many c class owners have placed orders so far.

I got the same time estimate from Shox of Dec 11-13 for shipping. By the way they are $349 from Shox. I've got them on order with springs for $249 a set. I can't wait!

Wow, that's even cheaper than Americas Tire for $350, of course the advantage is no shipping, just pick it up and one of their stores.

I've had a few problems with Discount Tire being unscrupulous in the past. I would never give them another dime! Even with shipping its cheaper than TireRack so I'm still ahead anyway. The springs arrive Monday and sways as soon as they are in.

What would you call charging people for 4 valve stems and giving them only 3? They did this on every car in the lot on the day I was last there. At $2.50 each and 40 cars a day thats $3k a month or $36k a year they are ripping off from unsuspecting customers.

When I called my local Discount tire to ask about the sways, he told me they were 695.00/set. I already knew the real price, so I just tucked that away as something to remember-stay away from Discount tire.

'cmon, You know why everyone is waiting...any sways available now, cost too much.

You guys could have sold at least a dozen sets to the guys waiting if your price was under $400.

It's under $400 per bar

Our sway bars are 3 way adjustable in the front, 2 way adjustable in the rear, and we find tyhat our bars are better balanced in diameter for the car.

We are also waiting for our second set of bars to be finished, as the first are gone. But that should be next week.

Are you kidding?! Is that for the front and rear eibach set? I just inquired about the set here in Australia and I was quoted $1210 AUD ($678 USD) including the front and rear sways and the fitting kit...labour cost approx $100 USD.

It might be friggin cheaper to get them shipped over from the US!!

Well, Ben, I've asked for pics of your sways here several times, and they're still not listed on your website. With that and the additional cost of your set, you shouldn't be too surprised that we're all waiting on the Eibachs.

I'm happy with the AMG rear bar for $70, no effect on ride comfort, substantial effect on handling, no complaints from dealer.

Yeah, the cost-to-gain-in-handling ratio is certainly in favour of the AMG sway...I might just end up getting that one - I'm not in the habit of negotiating a corner at racing speed anyway!

Tommy,

I apologize for not having any pictures of the bars to post. In addition, many of our new products that we carry, have not yet been added to our website. As soon as our next batch of sway bars is complete, I will try to get a picture before they are packaged. But I don't understand why a picture of sway bars makes a difference. If we were talking about spoilers, I would completely agree, but sway bars are for handling, and do nothing for the aesthetic value of a car.

I was interested in seeing the ends, actually, to see how they compared to the Eibachs to see if the extra adjustability would be worth it or not. Would've given me an idea of the quality of fabrication as well, of course.

$200 is a substantial difference, imho, and wanted to do a comparison. No biggie - my Eibachs'll be on next week; I'm sure they'll work really well with my 16" steelies and snows.

Not a bad deal if you only want a smaller improvement in handling by just doing the rear with a larger than stock but not large bar. If you do the whole set front and rear AMG is around $300 from whats been posted. If you go that far why not get really thick bars for only $50 more from Eibach? Availibility is not going to be a problem soon(allegedly) and your handling will be balanced as it was designed to be.

Lightbulb New update

Has anyone checked their order status at any of their places? My status now says that the bars aren't scheduled to go out until Jan 3rd.

So, Ben - you might get the last laugh after all. Which makes you getting those pics up even more important (and more lucrative for you). :p

Speaking of your bars, would it be possible to buy them unpainted? I've got an idea of what to do, and I'm sure that many here can guess what it is. Mmmmmm ... smurf sway bars (sounds like a pick-up joint for cartoon characters).

Tommy,

I always have the last laugh hehehe

I can't do anything about the color of the bars, but seriously, they go under your car, you won't see them anyways! Customers are more than welcome to paint them any color they deem fit.

This is the best picture I've been able to come across:

As you can make out from the pictures, stiffness can be changed by attaching the links to a different hole on the end of the sway bar. The holes furthest from the center represent the softest setting, and they stiffen as you work you way towards the center.

Thanks!

Ben

Ben dont you have the pics off my car? I formatted my hard drive so I erased them but I can take new pics if you like and post them. I like the color because it stands out.

Have you been surfing those **** sites again? :p

Yeah, I got an email from my rep yesterday confirming the 1/3 date. We exchanged emails, and it appears that they do not really know what's going on.

It is frustrating, but I've got my 16" steelies on (hey - a 1" difference in rim size, wonder if I'll notice a difference in handling), and it's too cold to install them anyway without a garage, so I'm not too concerned. I might be tempted to cancel my order and go with Evosport's bars eventually, if only because Tirerack doesn't have any real information on what the dilly-o is.

Giddy up

Jeff, thanks for posting that. Just called my rep - my pair should be shipped out today, and hopefully get here before Xmas.

I'll re-post something once I get the tracking # info from them. At that point, I just may start to believe the hype.
