Tunnel Mode in the Coupe
Closes everything...press it again and it opens everything to where it was.
There have been many discussions about this. Since the coupes lack one-touch close for the sunroof, the tunnel mode feature will not close the sunroof, only the windows. On the sedans, the roof is also closed.

Today I just discovered that my 2001 coupe has tunnel mode! Go figure! This would suggest that any coupe post 2001 has the capability to do it. Its certainly not a must have but nevertheless its such a cool feature!

), the coupe was released as a 2001 model? that is, it seems the US has the year designations oddly dated (doesn't make sense to me why 2003 cars are delivered in 2002)JeT, i don't know why it would be different, but the US spec coupes do not have 1 touch close and tunnel mode doesn't close the moonroof like the sedans. otherwise, it behaves as you described.
The coupe is a 2002 model. I did not think it existed prior to that.
Maybe you don't read too well...I am not asking you whether it does it or not...I'm telling you it does.
Without that feature, tunnel mode on US coupes will NOT close the sunroof.
I'm just telling you the way it is on US-equipped coupes.
Excuse me, but in the US, the coupes do not have the one-touch close feature for the sunroof. That is question #1, are you saying yours has one-touch close? That means you can press and release the sunroof button and the roof will fully close automatically.

i think in other parts of the world (yes, there are other countries outside the US

I agree, I do not see why it should be any different. Given the fact that my car was probably amongst the original batch (mine was manufactured early to mid 2001), I would hazard a guess that the mechanism is certainly there to do it for your later models. All it may require is a reprogram of the computer.
I have a 2003 C230K Coupe (US) and have verified that the roof does open and close with the windows while holding the recirc button. Others have doen the same with their 2003 coupes.
When trying out Tunnel Mode on my girlfriend's 2002 coupe the windows open/close just fine but the roof only moves about an inch then it stops.
Both of these cars do not have one touch close on the sunroof button. You still have to hold it while it's closing.
When I go in for service "B" I'll complain that my roof fails to close when using tunnel mode (and the key fails to open the hatch). We'll see what happens.
Don't worry we all get screwed in one way or another.
I don't have the third wheel in the center of the dash vents for fresh air or a way to lock the hatch.
btw, what do you mean a way to lock the hatch? the mini-metal key method?
Tunnel Mode works on the 2003's and not the 2002's.

Yep, My car does not have trunk lock that works with the little metal key. It just has the lever to open the trunk. The only place I can use the metal key is on the glove box and the driver side door.

Doesn't anyone realize you can enter the hatch from inside the car? The rear seats fold, making locking the hatch a waste of time.
Erik
Locking the hatch may be a waste of time, but only if you fail to lock the doors.
