popping off the engine cover...

Hey guys,

I was trying to replace my oil (it's about time), and everything looks very simple, except the engine cover just wont POP off... Do I just lift it up and pull it out? It's very resistant for some reason...

My car is the M272 model with the new cover...

(or should I just pull a bit harder, would it break the taps off?

is this the rectangle cover??? Make sure you pull on both sides at the same time... If you make the mistake i did which was pull from 1 side the cover will break

Mine is a 04 and it looks like this

grab from sides pull hard upwards, make sure you disconnect the hose after taking of the front cover and disconnect the two intake hoses.

Why do you need to remove the engine cover to change the oil, or am I missing something here??

a quarter mile at a time
there are 2 pieces, the engine cover, which is like the front 1/4 of what looks like the whole engine cover, and the airbox. Both come off without tools. The front piece is removed first, just pull up where it meets the airbox. Do not jack it up from there, once it's loose, pull up on the front part and it will come off. The airbox is the same. Disconnect all the hoses and air ducts. Then lift upwards on it.
