this is what i was thinking of doing but im soo 50/50 about it
i want it too have a stock look but also i want to give it a Cl'ish type of look...

i want to paint those chrome rings before instalation the same color of my car(metallic black) i was thinking maybe i could pull this off due to the fact my cars black so the rings won't stand out much and give it a stock look.....my dad owns a paint repair shop so i could get ity done professionally..forget the orange part of the light i used some metallic spray paint to get the amber out during day light hours

but im scared it might not turn out how i imagine it....what you guys think?

E_Corleone 11-09-2002 04:24 PM

ive already posted this before but...

this is like the fourth time ive posted this, but DONT BUY THOSE POS 3M TAPE STICK ON RINGS!!! im telling you, they suck, mine blew off and coulda caused a nice ding or scratch on my benz and i was only going 70 mph on the freeway when it happened. two little $70.00 peices of chrome are not worth a few hundred in body work. just think it over before you buy them.

Lynn 11-09-2002 04:26 PM

I think it would look much better painted. i don't car for the chrome rings at all.

604_kpEscoba 11-09-2002 04:33 PM

yah i don't like the chrome look either

i think painting it though would maybe give the c a whole new look though...

E_coreleone: isnt there any other way of holding it on ?

lhoang 11-09-2002 06:22 PM

super glue! :) j/k

maybe get the same ahesive that holds on body parts (lip spoilers, front lips.etc.)

oh, how did u paint your bulbs?

i have a can of chrome engine paint. will that do the job?

SoCal240/6 11-09-2002 06:25 PM

(In Captain Kirk voice): Must . . . . . . bite . . . . . .tongue . . . .

i thinkk that will do the job
as long as its high temp. i did not a very clean job of spraying and it looks perfect when i put it in

ViKTORiOUS 11-09-2002 07:03 PM

It might look cool if you painted it.... i've seen a few painted black, and it resembles the new E-Class front....

hey where can i get one of those (i'm gonna strop the chrome and paint it black). I was going to break down and get the Fabulous piece from Japan (about $250-300...i know stupid but I'm obsessed with it). thanks for any info.

hope 11-09-2002 09:56 PM

$250-300 are you carzy? I got mine off of ebay for $63, it look so sweet. I will post a picture soon. Go to ebay and do a search for "Mercedes headlamp ring" there is a pair there right now for $63. Let me know if you can't fint it.

Jorel C320 11-09-2002 10:16 PM

I wanted those and i saw it on EBAY...and then i realized...hey some guy can just pull it off and put on his car. So i changed my mind on anything thats basiclly double taped

hope 11-09-2002 10:38 PM

True, but if you use adhesive trim glue it WILL NOT come off, it would break up and would not be of any use to someone who is trying to steal it. I tried to remove mine to test how easy it would come off and I could not get it to move. The one on ebay is the same one that the Japanees company is selling; mine came in the original box. get it and use adhesive trim glue.

Post Pic!

Painting the headlight rings sounds like a great idea. The chrome look is U G L Y!!Someone post a pic of headlight rings painted/installed. Please.

MB-BOB 11-10-2002 12:41 AM

Just my humble opinion, but painted or chromed, these rings look tacked-on... hence tacky.

I was looking for more like these pieces but I think the chrome ones will do. Even if i get it painted couldnt be more than another $75-100 top i think.http://www.fabulous.co.jp/mercedes_benz/images/c203.jpg

daniel 11-10-2002 03:42 PM

the only thing is the fabulous ones are alot nicer. They leave the lights much bigger. Why not try covering the middle in vinyl sticker for the same effect. Not the real thing but might do the trick.

ViKTORiOUS 11-10-2002 03:53 PM

where can you get a hold of the fabulous ones? im sure your best bet is to get those from ebay and paint them... cheapest way

604_kpEscoba 11-10-2002 05:10 PM

how much for the fabs?

350?? thats a huge price for such a minor upgrade though i think it would be a real nice lookin one for sure...

the ones on ebay im still not sure how it would turn out so i 'm a lil nervous spending 70 bucks and not even knowing if it will look good....

someone else be the guinea pig..:)

Jorel C320 11-10-2002 09:33 PM

Vinyl ones work...ive seen it on other cars

FrankW 11-11-2002 04:07 AM
