what kinda gas mileage do you get? i wish MB would bring more diesels over here. better yet i wish california would allow more of them in the state. alot of the new diesels are cleaner burning than gasoline burning cars.

We pay too much for petrol, so its cheaper for us to have a big diesel, But i must say it is fun leaving the odd petrol behind, you have to drive one to believe to pick up from 50 to 140 stunning!!!!

The problem is our diesel fuel is too crappy to run in the new motors. The trucking industry lobbies hard to keep diesel fuel cheap, so don't expect to see any of the new Euro diesels in the US anytime soon.

Hi,
Congrats on yours, not many 270's around most are 220 here because of the company car laws. Should help resale value. Have had mine 11 weeks, 6500 miles, have had my share of issues including a complete new auto transmission after 6 weeks. It's in today again for 2 days as it is pulling to the left, rattle in dash and intermittant vibration sound when accelerating from left. But having said that I love my car just would like it without the faults. I will not give up until everything is right as these cars are certainly not cheap here. Interesting mileage, I am averaging about 34 miles to gallon over last 80 hours driving according to comp.

Where abouts in UK are you?

Congratulations, nice car! I love the 270 cdi engine, its just awesome. Not maybe a rocket but it has enormous torque and its really nice for normal cruising.

W R O N G - why do you think there's hardly ANY diesels over here now !!!

Even the Jetta TDI - gets great mileage but is not even close to being a LEV.

the reason we dont have more diesel cars in the us is because the diesel provided in gas stations is of low quality.. Ive been told by a MB Dealer that they will be changing the type of diesel fuel being sold and that we should have Diesel MB cars in 2008 its still far of but by then ill be ready to trade my car in..

i dunno about the new euro diesel engines but a friend has Jetta TDI and sounds like crap (the engine sounds like an old sewing machine)...does BMW make diesel engines as their cars always sound awesome (the inline 6 ones anyway) when starting up, accel, etc unlike my C230k as well (when startup in the morning it sounds like an old truck for about a minute).

The BMW 3 liter Diesel and the new 4 Liter V8 Diesel are both great engines. They are quiet, smooth and pack a mean punch off the line and cruising in top gear. I would be first in line if they offered large displacement Diesels in the US.

Hi

I have a C200 Kompressor loaner, first impressions, much quieter than the diesel, put your foot down and immediate response, slight delay with diesel. You can tell the torque difference and once you are going the diesel is more powerful and smoother. Prefer diesel. Shame they did not give me C240 6 cylinder, more comparable to my C270 5 cylinder performance wise.
