As a former Corrado owner, I've been meaning to mention on this board how similar the two cars look. Do you think MB had this car in mind when designing the C230 or just coincidence?
While I enjoyed my VW (G60 version), I hope the MB proves to be more reliable.

they might have had them in mind, but if the design is there for general appearance, or rather, if two or more cars share similar design characteristics, i wouldn't say one is a copy of another, but rather enginnering/aerodynamics/appearance goals make them that way, so whatever, i like those VWs anyway, so it's all good

If that was true...then the entire C class line was designed as a Corrado knock off in 4 door sedan, wagon, coupe(CLK) and hatchback(C230K) flavors. The Benz's ALL share design cues from the B pillar forward!

i might as well stirr things up. Actually I have no problem when C230coupe being compared to a Corrado as those were (and still are) bad *** cars (i tried to get one as a project car but still to much for the VR6 ones)....i consider those the poorman's porsche.
On the other hand, speaking of comparisons has anyone seen the MotorTrend comparison of the new CLK320 to the Accord v6 coupe? really makes you wonder

I also like the look of the Scirocco (excuse my spelling). When the 2 first came out I wished I have the bucks to get one even as a used one. When I did have some bucks they were too old to find a copy in good overall shape. The only one that I dont care for was the Rabbit.
I don't mind my Coupe is being compared to the either one. There are only so many ways to make a "hatch" look good. My Coupe DOES look good (except for the tail end which i am still trying to come to term with - and please don't flame me for saying so). I would not trade my coupe for neither one but that doesn't mean I don't like'em.

And yes, the C 230 K Sportcoupé, in profile, looks similar to the Corrado, which is in my mind a VERY good thing. They're both good-looking sporty cars.
The first (Giugiaro) Scirocco was a nice-looking car in its own origami way, but I was not a fan of the second generation one. It looked like an American car to me
...like something Lee Iacocca might have hawked in a TV commercial.The advantage the C 230 K has going for it though is that it's a C sedan under the skin, but in leisure clothing, which suits me just fine. I hate dressing up.
