Need Help! HID issue
Hi All,
I've been trying to solve this, and its a pain...a serious pain in the a-ss. The issue is for drivers side...fog light
this is a HID FOG light issue. Everything has been working fine with my HID fogs since I got them, until my ballast gave in. I replaced it for a new slim ballast from the same manufacturer. The fogs worked, it worked great. Then my fog light bulb burned out. I replaced the bulbs. it didn't work. I replaced the resistor, it worked! Then after a month or so of use, it shut down on me again. as of now, the Ballast+Ignitor, Resistor, Bulb are all brand new. I have no clue whats going on.
I did a few tests.
I plugged in a few sets of bulbs, none of em worked. If it was a resistor problem, the bulbs would still flicker once in a while, but it didn't.
I plugged in a standard 9006 bulb, and it works!
any clue what might be going on? might be another faulty ballast/ignitor?

I will start by saying my HID knowledge is really small. But, my electrical knowledge is pretty darn good. Since I doubt you bought a cheap kit, I find it a little suspect that you are having that many faulty components with a quality system. With that said, I suspect possibly a bad ground based on your issues.

Try to connect it directly to the battery and see if it works.. Maybe you have to make a new circuit with a relay. Or a new ground wire as johnand suggests..

your right guys, I think on a warmer day, ima swap it to the passanger side, and see whats going on, if it is fully functional, I'm assuming its a bad resistor (i just replaced it!).
I can't put non stock fog bulbs on the ML, even if i put luminics in there, the fuse blows. and the E, lol I am afraid to take apart.
But I guess I'ma swap left and right next week, when its a bit warmer.
