Did I use the wrong oil for the transmission ?

2005 C-320

My transmission oil pan gasket was leaking, so I took the task to replace it and change the oil filter as well. I took 3qt of oil out and refill it with 3qt of shell atf 134, now the car won’t move at all. I can see /feel that is going into gear because the rpm drop down, but it will not move. The car has 104k miles and the oil looked dark but not red. Kind of motor oil color.

Help please.

That's the correct transmission fluid.

Did you accidentally disconnect the connector (pilot bushing) into the transmission housing? Sounds like a wire got knocked loose. While you're at it, are you using the latest version of the pilot bushing? The older versions are known to leak and cause electrical issues.

Also check the fluid level. You'll need a MB transmission dipstick (aftermarket will work fine).

Not sure about your fluid level but I've been told these transmissions are very sensitive to incorrect fluid levels. I once had a problem where fluid was leaking out of the bushing, and once the fluid level was too low the car would just suddenly drop out of gear in the middle of driving. It didn't take much of a leak for this to happen.
