When it snows, we leave our C in the garage and take our Canyon 4x4 crewcab. Even in the rain, the C will lose traction a lot in the So Cal mountains. I'm sure if I lived in a flat area like the east coast (yes it's flat, 1,000' mountain passes are pimples in So Cal), the C with snow tires would be fine but you would not only get stuck in So Cal mountain snow but you can't even safely put chains on a C230 SS. If had a C240/C320 non-SS car, I would take it up the mountains with chains on and I would feel confident.
