Brake lights on at all times??

My brake lights are currently on at all times...is this a problem with a sensor? I don't have any fault codes displayed on the computer.

Brake

light switch is most likely bad.autohausaz.com or the dealer if you cant wait.

R/r may be similar to the one on benzworld.org w210 diy section.

Did you change the bulb recently?

I'm not sure how changing a bulb would have even the slightest thing to do with this.

Like the first guy said, you more than likely have a bad brake pedal switch. That usually leads to ABS / ESP errors though, maybe you'll get one soon. Either way, replacing the brake pedal switch is fairly easy and cheap.

If that were the problem I don't think the car would be driveable. You cannot accelerate and apply the brakes at the same time. Does the rear SAM control brake lights?

I have not changed or messed with any of the rear bulbs.

Where exactly is the switch located? Is it easily accessible near the brake pedal or do I have to get in somewhere behind the dash? I am going to check that out and buy a new one if I find that is the problem.

is your running light out? or just the brake light stays on? i think the rear SAM does controls the brake lights. might be your rear SAM that's fried.

Yes you can accelerate and apply brakes at the same time.
AFAIK on a few years / models one or two people on these forums has said that they can't. I think thats REALLY weird. I can accelerate with my foot on the brake in my 2005. Same with our 2001 E

I'm not 100% sure on the switch location, but on most cars it's under the dash right near the pedal and you can find it if you get under there.

Actually you can mess up with the Brake bulb. I'm talking about the one with 2 filaments inside the bulb. They are brighter when hitting the brakes. If mounted Improperly It stays bright all the time. In that case it needs to be rotate 180 degrees. It is the only bulb that has to be mounted right.

Yea but he said is brake lightS were stuck on. And also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these cars use 2 stage bulbs for the brake lights!! Aren't the brake lights and tail lights separate bulbs?

As far as getting an ABS fault, yes I'd be willing to bet that like I said, it's your brake switch.
