DIY weekend - thermostat and fuel filter advice needed

This weekend, if all goes well, I am replacing:
- spark plugs
- air and fuel filters
- thermostat
- possibly the turn signal switch, which doesn't "catch" when signaling for a right turn.

I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone who has done these.

Let me know how easy the fuel filter is, I want to replace mine soon.

Spark plugs I did this morning, piece of cake.
- pop engine cover off
- remove 8 screws on coil-packs
- disconnect and remove coilpacks (requires moving a couple cables and parts)
- remove and replace spark plugs

Air filter is easy too, remove the top of the airbox (6 screws) and the air filter slides out.

Thermostat requires a coolant flush from what I know. Its inside one of the hoses at the front top of the engine bay...??? thus you have to flush the system, or coolant will leak out everywhere.

I had the exact same problem with the turn signal stalk. Had it replaced under warranty. Those things are loose eh? The new one is way tighter. Let me know which part # you got as a result

Fuel filter, orient your new filter appropriately. Have some vice grips, or inserts to plug the lines.

Do it one at a time, and work quickly.

Air filter, are you really asking?

Thermo, like you I thought to replace it as part of PM, but I understand it sticks in the open position, not closed.

Stalk, don't have that problem.

Have fun.

Thanks, guys - I have not bought the turn signal switch yet. The thermostat is kicking on the Check Engine light.

I am assuming that the thermostat is where the uper radiator hose meets th block. Yes?

From what I understand, yes.

Ok, I did wiper blades, oil change, spark plugs, thermostat, cabin air, and air filters. The fuel filter will have to wait for another day.

It looks like I need a new cold air intake hose, as mine is coming uncoiled.
My engine cover was also stuck and I had to break one of the mounting posts to get it off.

Other than that, my car is unscathed and I saved a couple hunded dollars from what the dealer would have charged.

Where was the thermostat? and you didn't need to do a coolant flush to change it?

I replaced the hose with 2 3.5" silicon couplers and 12" long 3.5" stainless intake pipe. It was a little difficult fit, yet looks and functions way better.

Yes, the thermostat was where we expected. Two bolts - pretty easy! Only a few drops of coolant leaked out - I was parked slightly uphill!

I may have to fabricate a cold air tube.
