Have SRS and ESP faults... will an OBD II scanner reset them?

I changed my turn signal switch today and briefly disconnected the battery. Now I have SRS and ESP faults, and they wont reset by turning the wheel back and forth or cycling the key.

Last time the dealer hooked up the Star Diagnosis and pulled a code, they charged me $87!

Can a regular OBD II scanner reset them?

Hmmm, I'm not telling you to be dishonest, but perhaps....

if you had a dead battery and called roadside assistance, they would have a DAS along with them, and reset it?

I've certainly thought about it! The Dealer wants another $87!

And I am a supposed "VIP Customer"...

what did you end up doing?

...

i also have the SRS light that turned on randomly last week... i'm trying to figure out if its a bad passenger side sensor or if its just a break in the circuit of my dash.

i have an avic-D3 installed for about a year now with no problems, but i did notice that the LED light under the storage bin under the climate control is out. could this break caused the SRS light to go off?

i know that when some of the components were unplugged during the avic-D3 install, the SRS light came on indicating an inactive SRS warning... but once everything was plugged in and i drove around it went away. this happened both times when i cracked open the headunit. except that this time it just came on randomly and won't come off.

i could go ahead and replace the LED or seat sensor, but i'd like to confidently isolate the problem instead of guessing and wasting money.

anyone with experience with this?

thanks!

Today my SRS light has been on all day. I have seen it on intermittently, when the battery was low/drained.

Because I am having problem with battery drainage, I hooked a battery maintainer (trickle charger) to the battery last night.

Reading on the forums is difficult as topics are not always easy to follow. I have read where many people have had issues with the pax side sensor (even to the point where it drained their batteries), but there really isnt any follow thru on the threads.

It has been into the dealer 4x and into an indy shop 2x for the battery drainage problem, each time they threw a part at it and it didnt fix. I am not cheap, but I dont like paying for shot gun maintenance. Especially at MB prices.

did you check your seat control modules? there the ones that usually go bad first and start draining the battery.

Not yet. I just read last night where people were talking about it. Do I do a visual or continuity check? If visual, what should I look for.

I no longer have confidence in taking it in to a dealer or shop, so I am going to try and isolate the problem if I can.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

unfortunately only real way is just disconnecting the front harness of the seat control module and see if it drains over night. If you have a volt meter then you can check by that way too.

the picture of the front harness you need to disconnect is on my seat control module thread on my sig.

Set volt meter to amps (10amp fuse), install between positve battery lead and battery. Dont go between the positive and ground. With the car off, amps should drop down below .2a or 200mA.
