Cool enthusiastic newbie!!!!

hey what's up forum??

i've been a long-time enthusiast, and after being in car audio for 13 years and working on countless mb's, i finally own one!!!

here's some pics of the new member of the family....

here's my question to some of the techies here....
if i do aftermarket hid's on this car, i get a message on the cluster that the bulbs are out...right?

is it because the car doesn't see the resistance of the bulb anymore?
thanks for any info in advance....

J.P.

some aftermarket HID's do not throw this message, search around a little bit. I know there are some on ebay that claim they don't but i have no experience with them. BTW HID's in the standard housing produce horrible light pattern, so i wouldn't recommend doing that.

You need to set your XENON feature to PRESENT and your'll have no messages after that..OR you can get a new HID kit that works without reprogramming (Can't remember those brands)

Some dealers might want to do it for you for a little $$ OR find any local shop that has the MB star computer

STFF! It's been discussed so many times ( the programming and the non-programming HID kit)

NICE car BTW..I love white C!

yeah, i know a lot of threads have been created for the hid discussion, but no one has actually addressed why the car sees the difference between the standard filament bulbs and the hid ballasts.....

thanks for the help

i remember the volt between the regular bulb and HID is dferent.
That makes the error message comes out.

the easiest way to adapt something of that nature is to go with the AVIC Z2 from Pioneer, it has a hard drive built in with nav, bluetooth, and video all in one....
Pac audio makes a piece that adapts the complex steering wheel controls to pretty much any aftermarket head unit...
and don't worry about the fibre optic cable...it is merely a digital signal wire that runs between the factory head unit and the factory amp. bypassing the factory amp gets rid of the fibre optic, until you reinstall the factory head. i got some tech notes on the last c32 i did...i'll have to dig it up to find all the wiring codes for the factory speakers.....

hope this helps...

btw, the link for the pac audio piece is here:

oh yeah, here's a link to some pics i posted in another spot.....

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...64#post2770664

trying to come up with a design for my own ride...i don't really like the "all paint" look in the trunk..i'm thinking of finding some factory vinyl and doing up a classy, clean trunk install that looks almost factory...i don't wanna ruin perfection.....lol

Congrats on the new car. You definitely choose a good color on the C! Can't wait to see what you do with the system.

Yeah definitely a thumbs up on your new ride! I've always been a fan of White C's too!
