2003 C230 Kompressor Sedan / 2010 E350 Sedan

Hi, everyone
I have 2003 C230 Kompressor Sedan.
Can anyone tell me, it is normal that my streeing wheel is very hard.
And the car downshift when I brake (I can really feel the car downshift).

I did not have above issues with other cars.
Also, I recently had a rent a car same as mine and I do not have above issues.

That is very strange, can anyone explain please.
