2nd hand C230
Is this a good deal? What's the price range for this car? Anyone knows a rough estimate on how much it will worth after 3-4 yr of usages?
2002 C Coupe, White, Leather, sunroof, evolution package, 6-disc CD changer, alarm, 3500km. Asking price is $37000 Canadian.

The original MSRP for the exact car you are looking at was $40,325 CDN. That assumes that full MSRP was paid for all options; many buyers were able to get the CD changer free (a 750 CDN retail price).
So the seller is saying that the car has depreciated only about 8% (assuming he/she paid full price)? That's pretty optimistic. You'd be far better off buying a new C 230 K for about $3500 more.
If you really want to make an offer, check with your provincial licensing/insurance agency to see if the car's been in a collision, and ask for a full service history from the car's selling dealer. I know that at 3500 km no official service was required, but there might have been a lot of warranty work, which might be the seller's motivation. There are no lemon laws in Canada.
If the car passes muster, I'd max out with an offer of $32 K, that's more in the ballpark.

I'd guess that at three years it'd be worth about 60% - 65% of its original cost in most Canadian markets. In the UK, that would be more like 50%, according to Autocar magazine (but their depreciation rates are far higher than Canadian ones). I'd say you'd be at 55% after 4 years.

+$2927,75 (GST)
+ PST (if applicable, we don't have to pay for PST in Alberta, but I think all other provinces have to pay PST on purchases)
so....
That means a brand NEW car with the exact options will cost her more than $44752.75
of course.... if she is buying this car from a dealership... then this all moot... since she will have to pay all the applicable taxes anyways.......
but I personally think its a good deal if this was a private sale....

Wouldn't it be best and easiest to just go to your dealer and see what the best price is on a new one?
Then you have 2 numbers and 2 cars (one new and one used) to compare.
Without those REAL-LIFE numbers, you can't do the analysis.
