CEL 6 Days out of warranty :-)

Well as the title of the thread says just got the light on 2 days ago. Went off the same day. Came on again yesterday, went off an hour later, came on again 2 hours later and stayed on. I'm thinking its some O2 sensor, but my mpg are getting lower. If i take it to the dealer, they do not charge you for taking a look at it right? And, any idea what the problem could be. I got the hoses changed already, a new cylinder head, a few new wiring harness which I dont know which ones were changed, 3 different O2 sensors, new spark plugs...my car had alot of problems, but I still love it.

I would take it to the dealer right now! Ask the dealer up front if they will "goodwill" the repair. The manufactures (MB) allow the dealerships to make a certain amount of goodwill repairs per month to maintain good customer relationships. If you bought the car there and have regularly maintained it at their dealership they will likely spend some of their goodwill money on you.

Well I think I'd figure out what the code is....
if it's something easy, anything to avoid a trip to the stealer!!!!

I paid for my own coilpacks while under warranty, since they would just replace one, and one had already been replaced. I replaced all 3, rather than 3 seperate trips to the dealer. So I did all 3 out of my pocket about 100 bucks.
Later the 1 they replaced before this went bad. I used the 2 spare ones...neither lasted more than a couple hundred miles...

($30 part....anything to avoid the dealer!!!)

The dealer would've just done one at a time, and I'd be going back for the same thing down the road 2 more times!

Wow, it's truly amazing how people can read the minds of the cars and automatically know it's an O2 sensors. Next time something goes wrong with my car can you read it's mind? That would save me so much time, as much as 5 minutes in hooking up the obd2 scanner and reading the code.

I would have hooked up an obd2 scanner, but since I do not have one...I can't. That was a pretty rude comment considering you're a guy that's pretty good when giving information to people on this forum. I wasn't saying its the O2 sensor for sure, I was making a guess, but since I took it too the dealer today and they changed the cam sensors I was wrong. They did it 100% Goodwill which I was happy about and they told me to drive my car hard and not like a grandma.
