I know this is an old *** thread, but I just thought I would add to it for reference's sake.
You can just take the rivets out of the wheel. Odds are they are plastic, so even if they break, you lose one or whatever you can just buy more. I know this because I'm currently having my wheels painted and I had to order new chrome plated plastic rivets to go in after the powdercoat the wheels

Funny you bring up this old thread.Was just trying to figure this out myself earlier this week when decided I want to paint my amg replica wheels. Figured out you can just pull them out however, there is a good chance a few of them might break in the process. With that said.. where did you get the new set of rivets. Thanks in advanced..

Looks like the wheels that chadis____ ( i forget his whole sn ) had bought and couldnt get to fit on his car cuz of big brakes. I hope ya dont have big brakes or maybe even coilovers to deal w/ to fit those on your car
