My car accident
Thanks for all your well wishes. I posted a portion of this in another thread but here's what happened and what's going on:
I'm ok, but I'm not ok, but yes I am fine and I will be fine (know what I mean?) I have whiplash, my whole right side of my body is bruised and terribly sore and to top it off my right ankle is fractured and I can't drive for a minimum of 6 weeks, not that I could drive my car anyway because it was declared a total loss.
Went to the hospital, had numerous x-rays taken, they put me in a temporary cast (right ankle fractured), 2 days later went to my regular dr. who referred me to an orthopedic specialist who was a total azzhole - put me in a walking "cast" boot, few days later had to have a CT scan and finally going today to another orthopedic specialist who will read the CT scan results and HOPEFULLY tell me that I won't need surgery and that my ankle will be as good as new.
The accident:
I was driving to work on the 10th traveling west and a car came darting out of a side street trying to make a left turn - technically I hit him but it was his fault. The sound of skretching brakes, glass breaking, airbag deployment, my head was spinning - I think I was in shock - the police came, took a report (they were wonderful to me) bla bla bla and of course the guy didn't have insurance and isn't the registered owner of the car and to date has still not contacted DMV or my insurance company.
We have Mercury insurance and they have been great (so far). Keep your fingers crossed everything else goes smoothly.
I have pictures on my iPhone. As soon as I figure how to transfer them to the computer I will post. If anyone knows how to do it, let me know.
Thanks again to everyone for your concern.

Terribly sorry this happened to you. The bruises heal, but the pyschy needs so much more. Were you in a Mercedes when it happened?
Mercury is a good insurance company. I have heard excellent things about them. Hope you have a speedy recovery, and are no less for the wear.

Oh damn, First of all, I'm terribly sorry to hear what happened. All that matter's is that you are doing alright still.
To get the pics of my iPhone, I plug it into the computer. Then a screen will pop up - click and do scanner and camera wizard and click the ones you want to import. Save them to your documents and then upload them via photobucket.

Another woman causing a collision... Need I say more? Probably a blonde.
Over 70% collisions I respond to happen with women, 80% is their fault.
But that's okay you have a Mercedes W203 we're automatically on your side!

in addition to being one of the most rude, crass, ***-backwards, insensitive, appalling and inappropriate comments I've seen, it was patently offensive--sexism will not be tolerated on this board.

I am sorry to read of your accident. I hope your injuries heal quickly and completely. I ask God to relieve your pain to recover in comfort.
Now you need to protect yourself, it is time to get a lawyer, and don't speak to anyone except him about the accident. Rest well.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks for posting. It prompts us all to drive more defensively. There are a bunch of nuts on the roads.

The orthopedic specialist did the right thing in giving you a hard cast boot. Temporary casts that are done at the hospital ER do not provide enough stabilization to allow proper healing. You want minimal movement in your broken ankle to allow proper healing of the bones and ligaments. It is very difficult to guarantee that you won't need surgery and that your ankle will be as good as new. That is why there are physical therapists that will help you to gain as much normal function as possible, even after treatment by the orthopedic surgeon. Do not expect your ankle to be 100% right after cast removal. It will probably be very stiff.
Get well soon.
