Fast isn't always that fast
It's a great spot to drive- especially now when all of the leaves are turning up on the Bluffs- beautiful. Between Alton and Grafton it's pretty much a straight shot- 55mph, 4 lanes- no twisties. Outside of Grafton it tightens up quite a bit, goes down to two lanes, and not many cars. We hit the twisties there and all over HWY 94 by the wineries in Missouri. Occasionally I would and lead occasionally he would lead. One thing I noticed though, is the fact I owned him in the corners and braking. Naturally- he would catch up in the straights, There were several turns in which I could get enough of a jump to hold it until the next corner.......or until just about any straight more than 1/8 mile
It was a great time. Violated the cars for a bit, had some lunch, then did it again on the way home. Being in Illinois/Missouri- my version of twisties and canyon carving isn't the same as those out in Cali- but it's good enough for now
also- notice the temp tags on my car. noticed last week that the plates expired in July of 2007
never noticed it until i took it to work one day last week. i think i need to drive it a little more.

couple of good looking cars though, i have to agree with the above poster, your dad must have been taking it easy. my money would be on the vette on most courses.

not sure of the top speed on his car. he and i had it up to 157 (indicated). we've both had it to the drag strip. 13.33 was my fastest with it and his was 13.42
neither of us got to give it another try- a storm was moving in and he wanted to get it home before it rained.i don't drive it much- because i didn't buy it to drive all the time. makes me enjoy it more when i do take it out though. i'll have to see if i can find more pictures of his car. it's sick how clean it is. although mine is spot less and you could eat off of the engine- his is 16 years old.
on a side note- i saw the greatest license plate ever on a Mercedes though. when we pulled into the gravel parking lot to get lunch- there was a C63 and a Porsche. Not sure of the model of the Porsche- although it was the same white car that Euroteck had on the front page of their site for a while. Anyway- the C63 had "ETA_BMW_2" on the plates. they were pulling out as we were coming in- couldn't get the camera out soon enough.

although the newer LS based engines make a lot more power than the LT engines- i love the feel of the LT's a lot more. they make power from bottom to top- really smooth. the LS based cars feel kinda peaky to me- something like a 2 stroke dirtbike. besides- you can't beat 2k rpms at 80mph, all the while getting 31mpg. gotta love a light weight, aero car, that's really light.

i always give him a hard time about not modding it. to which he replies- "when you get this car when i die, if you even think about changing anything- i will haunt you to no end".
