How fast is the navigation load time in comparison to a DVD Navigation system? I am really considering getting one, but I've heard bad things about the CD based Comand. I don't mind the switching disc part, but I don't l've seen older navigation systems and their route recalculations takes forever.
For 1300 I would like to get one, but I can also get an aftermarket DVD navigation for a little bit more.

Well Andy, it looks like you have me coming back in februari if it keeps going like this...20+ installs isn't a problem either (depending on the models to install the comand in).
I still have several comands back home (non 203s in perfect condition and some 203s in need of minor repairs (by Bosch)).
I will most probably be able to get more comands for a similar price as the ones I had before (bought from a dutch company that had 125 used comands in stock...amongst a LOT of other OEM MB parts).
For those in LA and the bay area who are serious about having a euro comand installed in almost any type mercedes for approx. 1300USD (all in), I need to know what kind of car you have (model and year of production - modelupdated or not) and when in februari or march you can miss the car for an install (for most models one can wait till the install is finished because it won't take too long).
For those who are willing to join this command-install-event, I require a 200USD deposit somewhen next januari so I won't get stuck with some left over comands in the states.
I just saw that I have received a lot of comand related mails...answers on those mails will follow...

How do you install the COMAND for a W210? I'm assuming that you will need to know what options the car has so that you will have the correct center wood panel with the correct number of holes for all the buttons that the car has or does not have.
As an example, here is a pic of the interior of a W210. It is all wood down the middle.
Please let me know. I am very interested in getting the Euro COMAND when you come to the states again.

I'm in for a 2003 W203 C230 coupe with Bose Made in July of 2002.
Do these COMAND units support SMS via the phone if I install the Nokia 6230i euro phone kit?
Does Steve handle setting up the MFD or do we still have to visit the dealer to enable this?
