Loose cruise control stalk

I'm wondering if some of you (if you drive a 2003-2004 W203) can go and check to see how "loose" your cruise control stalk is. I'm not sure if mine is broken or something but the vertical play in the "neutral" position (ie before the base piece starts to physically move) is some 2+ cm, and maybe 1cm front/back. I don't remember it being this loose when I first bought the car. I barely use cruise (maybe 1-2x per YEAR), so I'm wondering if a tech broke it during routine service or something.

If this is indeed abnormal, anyone know if this would be covered under the Extended Warranty?

Mine is loose. In every W203 I ever test drove it felt the same way, so I assumed it is normal.

Mind moves, maybe not as much as you say, but similar... but it's not what I'd call "loose," just has a little play in it. If that's what you have then it's normal... I guess.

Just a little play, probably not quite as much as you describe, but there is a bit there.

Fixed

I took the stalk apart (ie removed the egg-shaped piece at the base) and it looks like part of the base broke. I dripped in a few blobs of Gorilla Glue and fused the whole thing together overnight. Now there's only 1-2mm of play and it feels WAY tighter. I'd recommend this fix if you want to reduce the play in your stalk. Thanks guys!
