What do you mean by "torn up"? If there is something mechanically wrong, I think it is under warranty forever. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't see the seatbelt being a DIY project.

well the damage is not to the mechanism but on the belt itself. near the lap area where the buckle connects to the clip (as though you were wearing the seat belt). the belt itself got worn down and is starting to tear and it gets caught every so often when i sit in the car and try to put the seat belt. ill take a picture tomorrow (later today when i wake up and the suns actually up) if im not making any sense.

if its covered under warranty fabulous but today is saturday and the shops not open til monday. any one know if im good for warranty?

I dug around and it seems I'm wrong about the warranty. I had a Honda years ago and it was stated in the manuals that seatbelts were covered "lifetime of the car" - although only if something went wrong with them, not due to accidents and whatnot. I assumed this was a federal requirement or something, stupid me!

For the part number use the MB EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog) online. It is free and it will provide you with every part that you can think of.

Onece you have the part number, Google "trademotion mercedes" to find an online mercedes parts store. You will save over the stealership.

The seatbelt assembly is a very DIY project, the procedure is in the MB Maintenance CD, availalbe through MBUSA.

Verify it from Getmercedesparts.com (they are pretty cheap compared to other sites).
