My faclifting inc new Comand NTG 2.5

I just had to do this to my wifes car...
She also complained the old style felt a bit old now..

Got this used..

Got this used..

Got this used..

Got the Comand NTG 2.5...

The before pic....

You have seen this before on how to remove this so
I just let the pics speak for them self..

Test of the new AC unit before continuing. Plug n play!

Test of the new Coand unit before continuing. Works great!

And Indy showed up...

The old plastic braket needs to be swoped for a new one that the new
panels fit to so all this has to be removed inc the glove box.

Glovebox and center conlose removed and the panel gets off..

Now it is just to put the new panel in and assemble it all back like it was removed.

He shows up again.. Indy..All works..

All in place...Just to start playing with the new comand...

Soooo happy with this..

Splitscreen GPS in action..

MP3 playback from the hardrive.

As some of you know I dont like the old cluster...So what do I do..

I bought a new one in black that I like more..

But I LOVE the sport version from the W211 so I just had to have that..

So I decided to swap the interfaces on them and move all
W211 faces to the black one..

It was alot to dismantle..

Much more than I thought.

And here we go with cluster number 2...

There you go..Just the assemble left to do then..

Begining to take shape..

Finnished..Just installing it in the car left..

Out with the old...

And in with the new one..

Test..1

Test 2...

All in place....LOVE IT!!

Not so far..But info in cluster and wheel buttons is for some strange reason not working so hoping programing is the answer to that..Should have worked without that since it was a Comand before the swap..I'll keep you posted on how it goes..If it dont go I can live without it...The comand is so cool it is worth it.
You want a pic or a part number?

Cool!

Yes it plays movies...Only unit who does fo the W203..It is the new Comand NTG 2.5 with built in harddirve for the maps and MP3s. Has a SD card slot and DVD changer built in. All in one unit..Amp and all...W203 and W209 dont use a MOST agw so that is why this is possible. (Not many who know this). As I said...Only thing not working right now is the can bus for cluster and wheel buttons ..Woriking on a solution..
I have been waiting forever to see someone attempt an install of the 2.5 COMAND unit. I assume this is the unit for the new C class coupe which is not being sold in America? Would you mind telling me the part number? Also please let us know if your steering wheel controls work - I have a feeling this might be an issue.
Those with upgraded audio, I very much doubt this newer COMAND unit is going to communicate with your MOST based AMP.

That is the beauty of it...As I said earlier in the post W203/W209 DONT have a MOST AGW in the car. It is incorpirated in the headunits. How the Comand NTG 2.5 works in MOST cars I have no certain source to tell but why wouldnt it since the AGW is built in.
I didnt mention that this facelift upgrade can be done with the Audio 10/20/30 and Comand APS 50 and widescreen units as well if you want to go a little cheaper way...All you have to do with those units is to put a MOST loom so the unit starts up. This is what you dont have to do on the NTG 2.5.

I bought a used one to try it out..You dont lose any features but gain a few.
I bought one from a 2003 CLK with the same engine as mine. 320.
Pluged it in with NO programing and all worked exept the odo/Milage,fuel gauge (going up and down all the time) and digital speedo.(analog works fine.)
1. Odo/Milage= This can be hard to get to work on a used cluster. I will try to assign it to the ignition switch with stardiagnose. This is way easier and works with a new cluster . (So damn expensive though)
2. Fuel gauge= This happens because I have an early W203 made before 11/2001 and it does not have a MAPS tanksensor that they got after this date. I will try to swap this sensor for the new one. But this is not an issue if yours is made after this date.
3. Digital Speedo= Shows wrong speed. This is "a assign to the ignition switch" problem and same here like with the odo problem. I let you know when I have assigend.
So what do I think about this you might think??
A new cluster is so expensive so I think this:
1. Will try to get it to work but dont bother if it shows or not so I can live with it until I find a new cluster cheap.
2. This must work of course. If I cant swap to the MAPS sensor I will give this facelift option up since it is a early car and refit the old cluster.
3. I will try to make it work with the ignition but really dont care if it dont work..I just put the outside temp in that display instead.
So the final line is..If I get the fuel gauge to work I'll keep it. If not the old one goes back.
