Thanks...does anyone happen to know the part number?

^ The car does NOT need coding. You just need to close the loop.

Find the fibre cable and open up the end connector (you should see 2 orange fibre lines, one white, one red). Open that connector with a thin screwdriver. You now have 2 lines, with 2 ends. Now you just need to join them end-to-end.

The part # you need is 000-545-33-84. "Connector"

Once done, you just need to tuck everything through the hole in the side of the glove box. Be sure not to bend the fiber too sharply or you will break the cables. The minimum radius is 0.25" or about 6.5mm iirc.

Thank you slammer. I knew you would have to close the loop somehow. You have told us how.

Woohoo, did something useful for the forum.

I know the D2B network quite well, after retrofitting the CD changer, Linguatronic, and Argos Bluetooth into my car. All 3 did not need coding. The stuck HU detected all 3 the minute I started the car.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. Just don't ask me about retrofitting Tele-Aid.

For a 2002 You have to buy a special box. Dension 500 or something like that. This box converts the audio signal into an optical signal, but imo is not worth the money.

What I did instead was design an aux in (click here) that fed into the stereo.

For 2002-2004, unfortunately there is no way to truly integrate an iPod to the steering wheel controls.

I added a 3.5mm headphone jack into the back of the tray, then soldered the other end into the L and R channels of the tape deck. Unlike the other guy I didn't cut the drive motors though, so I can still play cassettes if I want to.

I bought the part you said to buy but it doesn't hook up to any of the connectors left from the cd changer...am I missing something here?

Yes it does. The CD changer has 2 wires. One is a braided 3-prong power/wakeup connector. That one u can just put aside. The 2nd one is 2 orange lines (these are fiber optic lines) that end in a connector. You have to open up the connector and separate the 2 lines, and join these 2 FO lines together.

sometimes the wire harness is tucked into the center console. if you look on upper left part of the glove box you'll see a tab on the sidewall. thats where the cd changer harness usually goes. Sometimes it'll be hidden in there, it might require removing the radio and center console to see if you have a harness in there.
