C180 kompressor estate
Must leave key in ignition for up to 2 hours before it will start.

W203 C180 Kompressor estate 2005.

Remote unlock works but key does not turn in ignition.
Leave key in for 1.5 - 2 hours key turns and starts engine.
Central locking does not work for a period of time after removing key from ignition.

One or the other, anyone else have this issue?

You either have a faulty key or ignition module---use DAS Xentry to find out which one is faulty!

Thank you for your response, I did consider one or the other but was confused by the way that they seem to cancel each other out. When I first put the key in I can use the spare key to lock the car but when I return a couple of hours later I have to use the physical key to gain access and start as normal. On shutting it off I need to leave it for the same amount of time before I can lock it using the fob.

It did return the following codes:

B10A1 can comm to scm N80
B1090 can comm to N70 OCP
B1026 EZS and SCM not blinked via can
D149 incorrect message from N80 SCM
B1031 OCP not sending data
2029-002 self adaptation of mixture at lean stop tendency to run rich.

There were a few bulb errors listed as well from tail and door mirror indicators but the main focus must be on the EZS and SCM not in comms, the 2029-002 I believe is the vacuum hose leaking under the air filter housing so will address this as well. The OCP I don't think is linked in any way. I have cleaned the keys and replaced the batteries as first IA. Fuse 8 has been checked and ok.
The key fobs were in a bad way so they have been replaced as well. It was looking at sending the keys and the EIS to cardiagnosticslondon to see if this combination is the root cause of the problem, see their videos on youtube for what they can do for you. Looks a good company and web page has a professional quality.
