Hey rwcC230,

I live in San Diego too. That is a really awsome picture. Who took that for you? I have been trying to get my friend who is a photographer to take a picture like that for me, except that I want to be rounding a turn.

it's an auto i wanted a 6'er but i went for this one. it was on the dealers showroom floor. exactly how i wanted it p-roof, heated seats, bose, leather, cd, and some extra stuff, and the auto. after 2 long months of searching, i wanted to go 4 the 230, but i wanted the 6spd. this lady was eyeballing the car as well, so i told the dealer "i waited long enough for a new car, the auto tranny will have to do, tell that lady the car is sold." i didn't want to wait any longer than i had already waited. so screw that lady i took the ride.

If you have the auto, how are you accomplishing those burnouts? Don't tell me you are doing neutral drops either...

OMG, that story sounds to real, i too was waiting for a 6 speed coupe and it had to have the C-7 package and i wanted black. the dealers all said it would be months so they just got this black c230 delivered and they put it in the show room. some guy that was buying a c320 saw this and said hw would take it instead, i saw it and quickly told my salesmen that i want that car, so i think they lowered the price on that c320 just to make 2 deals work out. and i did not really even realize mine was an auto till all the paper work was done, lol. but i love it anyway.

goodluck with it.

JustinTRW- its easy to do burnouts with and auto without putting in in neutral. just hold the brake down with your left foot and revv it to like 2,500 or 3,500 RPM and just let go of the brake and floor it. it will spin the tires easy with the ESP off.

Why even let off the brake? You can just keep holding the brake and the car will not even move, just spin the tires. This looks like what MONO SKY is doing. I assume, based on the picture, that the coupe has enough power to keep the tires spinning and overcome the brakes, but my coupe is a 6spd. and haven't tried it. But I have done this in the past with E's and SL's, just not to the point where I'm burning all the rubber off of them. Those tires aren't cheap.

Yes, I know. The C32 has something called torque, and lots of it. I was just making sure you weren't doing neutral drops and ruining your tranny.

Thanks for the compliment - The photographer works for the SD Zoo's photo dept. We were caravaning up to Orange County with another friend's 1967 Jaguar XKE for a Coucours. I went along to make sure that the Jag made it up there! Mike was taking pictures of the cars, and sent me this one. It was taken on slide film and scanned in to the computer.

I think it looks like it could have come out of a brocure!

Yes, indeed. "Kaefer" means "Beetle" or "Bug" in German. I lived there for a while, and even did an apprenticeship with Mercedes Benz (hence my love for the cars).

Thanks for the welcome message, by the way. This seems to be a very cool place for Benz owners to exchange information.
