Help me figure out what is wrong with this car
So, I have been on the lookout for a C350 and came across this very odd one: Here.
There a quite a few red flags. 1st, it says it is a 2006, but has the 2007 wheels, exhaust, and spoiler, but clearly the 2006 aluminum interior. 2nd, it is TOO cheap. That is less than most C230's I have come across. Anyone else able to tell if it is in fact a C350 by the pics?

The price does make it seem sketchy, cosmetically its a 2007, but according to the VIN# it is a 2006 C350
This came up though, which is interesting, idk what this means, possibly it was a late 2006 so they did the 2007 upgrades?
806Change of year of model, last figure shows new model year

Just a quick tip in all Mercedes 2000-2008 or 2009 the tenth digit of the vin corresponds to the year, so in the vin:
WDBRF56H36F728349
the 6 denotes a 2006
WDBRF56H36F728349
the 6 denotes a 2006

Thanks for the tips, yep, I ran the VIN too but it still is fishy. The add says some damage to the right front fender, but the pics don't show it.
I think I may go on a road trip. It is about 3 hours north of me.

Its a C350 to carfax. It however says "collision damage over threshold" reported, no repairs found.
So it may have been repaired out of pocket, but still got wrecked hard core.

Has the 350 4 piston breaks. If it's a change of year to an '06, then it was originally an '05. The wheels and spoiler would not be part of that. Very odd.

ONLY thing that would be "fishy" would be the price in conjunction with the "damage."

The 2007 wheels wouldn't be fishy to me because those could be swapped out for any MY (Model Year) w203. Same goes for the exhaust tips, which are screw on tips. If you actually look under the 2004.5-2006 chrome exhaust tip, the tip slides on over dual pipes and there's a screw that holds the tip on. Reason I know is because mine was like that when I got the Kleemann muffler on. Same thing for the spoiler. That can fit on ANY MY w203.

My money says that this is in fact an 06 (aluminum trim) and it was fixed with updated 07 parts when it was wrecked. Like everyone's been saying the 07 cosmetic upgrades are pretty easy, especially if you're fixing things anyway. VIN tells all.

Wheels - Easy 20 minute job for a shop
Spoiler - One of the easiest installs ever (The spoiler can be installed as a DIY - only "long" part is waiting for it to dry)
Exhaust tip replacement - Easy 10 minute job for ANY exhaust shop. Chop off OEM dual pipe (single oval) tip, weld on chrome replacement tips. Or, replace the entire muffler. 20 minute install.
The interior takes A LOT of time to do compared to any of these.

Huh? You know how much more trouble it would be to replace the interior DIY vs. the exterior?

These photos are of AT LEAST 2 different cars.
Pic #1 and #2 are of the same car, a 2007 C-class sport sedan. It's impossible to know anything beyond that it's a 2007, it's a SS, and it does not have the lighting package.
Pic #3, #4, and #5 are of a second car, or the same car at a different location, and what looks like a 2007 C350 Sport sedan. The badges, wheels, exhaust and spoiler are correct for this model year.
Pic #6 and #7 are of a 2006 C350 sport sedan. Interior trim is aluminum
Pic #8 and #9 are of a 2007 C-class sport sedan. Interior trim is black wood trim.
Pic #11 is interesting - it looks like the color of the car might be wrong. It could be glare on a black car however. Note the fold down rear seat option in this car. Rare. Lookup VIN and see if the option list matches. This is one mod I don't believe could readily be done.
Pic #12 - Who puts armor-all on thier airbox?????
Pic #13 - Michelin Pilot Primacy - stock for some 2006 C-class sport sedans.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
It looks to me like this car is legitimate (both cars are legitimate?), but the selling party is not. I think these are photos of two cars that the advertiser doesn't really own. One of my co-workers discovered a similar situation when trying to purchase a well underpriced car (also Mercedes). It was strictly a scam.
Possible scenario. If you follow up on this ad, they will reassure you about the car and its condition. But, there is a lot of "competition" to buy the car. They will then ask for money (security deposit, handling fee, transportation, etc.). You will send the deposit, and that is the last you will hear from them.
If you want some entertainment, call (or email) about the car, and post the results on this forum.

It's not really a "big" job, but more-so time consuming. Plus, you have to be a lot more gentle with the interior than any of those other parts because once you break one piece, you have to replace it.

Ok. I know it's a pain in the a$$ to get to the radio, so I can see how it gets time consuming. It's definitely 2-3 cars pictures.
