I've got a Cylinder 4 misfire. I searched, but could not find specifically.
Can you drive for 2 hours at highway speed, leave the car for two days, then drive the same 2 hours back safely with the misfire? I have to make a trip tonight.
Thanks!

I'm assuming that you know it's a cylinder 4 misfire after getting a CEL and checking the OBDII code. Did you clear the code and then have it come back? How long before it comes back? Can you feel the engine running poorly? Gas mileage noticeably going down?

Always clear codes to see if they return the same, how long it takes for them to return, or return at all. If you clear and continually get same cylinder misfire then look at plugs/wires/coils for that cylinder.

I made it both ways. Just drove like an old lady.
TVT to the rescue again. I should have coils in hand today.
Anybody know which one is cylinder 4?

cylinder 4 is closest to the firewall i believe. there should be markings on the coil tops tho.
sounds like coil and spark plug needs to be replaced. cyl 1 misfired for me so i replaced all plugs and coils and have never had a problem since.

You've got more guts than I do. I spend as little time with any warning light/sound/thought as possable.

i would definitely replace the plugs, or at least cyl 4 plug, when you do the coil. If you were misfiring and drove for extended periods of time, the unburned fuel can fowl up your plugs, regardless of mileage on the plug. when i had a misfiring issue, my plugs were only a few thousand miles old and the misfiring cyl fowled up the plug pretty badly. just my suggestion

The plugs on the M112/M113 last about 60k. I wouldn't worry about swapping the plug, because you have 2 per cylinder and unless you are completely abusing the car with the misfire you won't damage anything. If you do change one plug, you have to change them all and then you might as well do wires.
