MB giving crappy cd changers????

Ok about a month ago, my HU gave me the message NO CD CHANGER... i went to the dealer and they swapped the old cd changer for a new one.... after about 2 weeks of cruising with the new changer, the HU now says NO MAGAZINE.... WTH is up with these crappy MB cd changers??.... i was going to go in for a service next week for my steering wheel and now this..... last time the customer service rep told me that the MB cd changers don't play burned cd's... alright sure, i just play burned cd all the time on my MB changer..... just to disprove his theory, i put in non burned (store bought) cd's and low and behold it still doesn't work.... still " NO MAGAZINE".... i was wondering is it the wiring??... CD changer or what...

It's just starting to get annoying... i know this isn't a big problem but i like listening to my tunes while i'm cruising... the radio sucks...

I had the same problem a few months back, I all of the sudden got the "NO MAGAZINE" error and couldn't play any CD's. Took it to the dealer and they said they replaced the changer. Hopefully this crap doesn't happen again, especially once the warranty is over.

Mine has been working fine for over two years now. No problems, and I use almost all burned CDs.

sad...

Welll...just have them change the entire changer and the connection. I haven't had one problem yet and yes the dealer told me that it wouldn't play any burnt CD's which is crap! I hate dealers that tell you sh*t.

The 2002 MB 6 CD changer will play CD-R, but not CD-RW, CD+R, CD+RW discs. It will also not decode MP3 CD's. Thats as best I can tell from the tests I ran.
The final thought on this.....if you're using a PC or Toast on a Mac to burn CD-R's....you must close the session (so that the disc will play on 96% of audio CD players). Macs using iTunes automatically closes the session prior to track verification.

I've had my car and changer for about 4 months. I've played a mixture of burned CD's and original CD's. I've never had a problem. I haven't even heard the changer skip. God! I wish it played MP3's. When I asked the dealer before buying the car, He replied "Ummmm no." I still can't believe that with a car this advanced that they didn't anticipate the need for this - or a mute button with a gradual volume return (very handy).
