Owner's Manual

Just wondering, where you store the bulky owner's manual. Mine was lost when I bought the car. I just got a replacement, but I can't see to fit it in the glove compartment. Won't close.

So where would you guys store yours?

laneshift Aug 4, 2010 09:25 PM

...Mine fits in my glovebox along with the other booklets that came with the car in a leather case. Whole thing fits snug in the glovebox, top shelf.

Edfrommars Aug 4, 2010 09:28 PM

Just chuck it in a drawer and download the PDF version from the internet. It'll save you lots of time looking things up because you can search for specific words.

I have mine in the rear accessory shelf in the hatch. Oops, trunk, since this is a "coupe".

It fits perfectly there.

LILBENZ230 Aug 4, 2010 10:34 PM

I think it is intended to be in the trunk, one of the side compartments. Those of us with CD changers in our glove box like myself find it doesn't fit there. I keep it in my house.

that whole leather case with all the manuals and papers fits in my glove box in my 03 240 4matic wagon with the cd changer...now there is not alot of room left over but i dont really put anything in there anyways too far to reach for me

Top shelf?? How can that be? How are you to fit that in that little space. You there is a multi disc player there, on the left side of that top shelf.

Well, I know that is one option. But the thing I would like to have the hardcopy in the car just in case if there is any emergency and something I need to see while I am away from home.

Do you still have the emergency pack that came with the car? If so, have you used it?

LILBENZ230 Aug 4, 2010 10:55 PM

Yes I have it and nope, never been used. I forget it's there.

Sometimes, I wish we have that tool set BMW has. That is a pretty good idea, especially when you need it in an emergency.

Having the CD changer in the upper part of the glove box, my owner's manual and case fits snuggly in the lower part of the glove compartment,.... well, often I'll have to SLAM it shut.

Ok,... so now I'm wondering,... what exactly do people have in their glove compartment so that their owner's manual can't fit?

Another nice possible storage area for those fat bulky owner's manuals and case would be that round empty "deep dish" rim area of that compact spare tire underneath the trunk.

Yea, I notice that. It leaves a dent on the Leather pouch that holds the manual. I can't image over time and heat it will be all ruined. So I don't prefer to think that is a good place to put it. I don't have anything right now, other than my regs and insurance card. There is a small led flash light I found at Costco that works wonder and is stashed there.

"deep dish", nah not so good area as well, will be a pain to get it and it will get all dirty over time. Although it's a good hiding place. The previous owners of my car said someone stole theirs from the side compartment.

Oh. how about the sunglass holder? anyone of you use that? :(

LILBENZ230 Aug 4, 2010 11:14 PM

We facelifted 2005-2007 cars don't have that sunglass holder.

Oh.. Well, you won't miss much, cuz I don't know why anyone would put their sunglasses there and trying to get while driving.

That means more room in to store something else. :naughty:

timmynabenz Aug 4, 2010 11:24 PM

i put it in the foam container that sits on top of the spare tire, under the trunk carpet, its fits perfect, always right there when i need it, and doesnt take up more convienent space :y

Mine is in the glove compartment in the area under the CD changer shelf. Pretty much the only thing in the glove compartment is the CD changer, the original music demo tape, a MB analog phone :nix:, and the manuals in the leather case.

As far as heat or the tight fit causing problems, it has been there since August of 2002 with no problems. Looks and feels almost new when I pull it out. It is a snug fit, but I don't think a dent in the leather is noticeable. I would have to go out and look, but don't even remember a dent.

hcalvarez Aug 4, 2010 11:55 PM

I have an 05 SS. I store mine on the left side area of the trunk where the velcro is. Fits perfectly. Right side has the med kit.

Uh.. not a good place for it, since any possibility of it going missing is high.

Unless the is it's always in your private garage or space.

In the Trunk on the left where there is a hole

It's not going to jump out of the door pocket, you know. Also no one is going to break into a car to steal an owner's manual.

slammer111 Aug 5, 2010 04:17 AM

I have a coupe. The manual fits perfectly in the left access panel in the trunk, next to the rear SAM.

Glyn M Ruck Aug 5, 2010 05:52 AM

Left side if trunk with med kit with velcro strap. As Matt says 6CD stacker & CD storage unit screws up the glove box.
