OFF TOPIC...MAYBE NOT.

Is it better to buy a 2010 car now or wait until 2011?

My wife has been itching to buy a 2010 GMC acadia. She wants to buy next week...she is bugging the hell out of me to research prices. She wants it now due to the fact that an incentive of 0% financing for 60 mo. is available until September only.

In your opinion should we wait or should we buy now?

Thanks guys.

My thought would be "Are there any significant changes between '10 and '11 that you want?" Frequently they changes are minor or cosmetic. In that case, if you can get a better deal on the '10 I would think you should go for it.

Best time to buy is at the end of a month and especially at the end of the month when the new model change is announced and available for order which is traditionally September. The absolute best time is Christmas Eve just before closing. The sales guys are scrambling to hit bonus marks at the end of a month. Don't buy with emotion which is what they work so well with. Be ready to walk to a different place if your deal is not met. Go in knowing your homework and research is done first and make a cash offer not a trade in offer until his hand has been exposed. Then and only then offer up the trade but know in advance what you will take and do not budge from it. Deals on cars are everywhere in this soft market. Use it as your shield and cloak. And most important have fun with it. This is the great sparing match of the season almost like the superbowl except you are in it.

The 10' is the better deal right now in the season of cars because they have been on the floor plan (read cost to dealer) the longest. The 11's have a whole model year to age so deals will not be as forth coming. Think as the dealer not the buyer. And do your homework.

you might get an even better deal after the current promo runs out in september since the dealer will be looking to move the "older" inventory. Possibly 0% and some kind of rebate. DEF do some hmwk the stupidest thing you could do is walk in to the dealer blind

I think that is what she(my wife) is doing. She wants it bad!!--stating she'll take advantage of the 0% financing..it might not come again.

I do admit that it is a nice vehicle but honestly we don't have a need for a car that seats 7 or 8. We are a childless couple.

For that kind of money...there's audi q5,lexus rx, and my favorite the Cadillac srx. She has not tried any of those cars yet.

Heck it almost costs as much as what we owe on our mortgage.

What's amazing is that 5-10 minutes after she applied for a quote online she received a call from the dealership.

I agree...homework indeed. It took me a month or so of research before I bought my BMW a while back. I got to tell my wife to cool her jets..easier said than done. Any volunteers to do it for me?

Wifey went to her appointment with the dealer today. Previously she was told that they can get her the car she wants. It turned out to be untrue.

They apparently trying to transfer the car from one dealership to another and there was no response from the dealer where the car "supposedly" is available. Now wifey is waiting for them to call her back...her interest with buying seems to wane down.

Are they going to charge extra for this..I don't know.

Since a car with leather is no longer available, the dealer says they're going to put leather in the base model vehicle for an extra $1700.

My question is: Is it cheaper to take it to an independent upholstery shop? or let the dealer do it to save time/hassle...

i would just wait until you can find the model with everything you want. I'm sure they'll have another deal. GM's been having those red tag// employee pricing events since 2008.

yeah you know car dealerships always have those red tag end of the year blow outs. They even do the employee sale events. 0% financing is ususally offered if you have excellent credit rating, I think around a 720 or higher. Always read the fine print in those kinda deals. I know on used cars the lowest you can get for financing is like 4% or 6% I think. Thats what my friend said when he was a sales rep.

1700 seems a reasonable price for the upholstery. I honestly would wait and shop around until another one comes around. Sometimes dealers will try and sneak in shipping cost from moving the car from one dealership to another.
