C240
Traded in.

Hey all. I recently traded in my 2002 C240 because of engine issues, and I have yet to be hit with the electrical issues. Multiple oil leaks and expensive parts are not something I can handle while still in school.

Therefore, I chose the reliable and safe 2011 Camry LE to get through college with at a little over $22,000 OTD. Gave me $7,500 for my Benz.

This forum is one of the most helpful forums around, and the traffic rate is decent. I will be sure to hang around. Especially since we have one of these puppies chillin' out in the garage:

Cheers!

Lane,

Sorry to see you give up on your C240, but I hardly blame you. Good luck with the Camry.

Take care,
John

I hear those cars are so nice, they almost drive themselves.

Not what my choice would have been (Mini S, Civic Si, Miata), but at least it will be reliable so that you can concentrate on school, beer bongs, etc.

Good luck with it.

Damn! Another W203 gone.
Gluck with the Camry man.
When you get a chance though, can you post some details about the issues you were seeing that made you give her in?

Although I can understand the desire to find the solution to the problem with the 240 for the sake of finding the solution. However, I think you have made the smart choice. New, with a warranty means that you can go through school without significant unexpected expenses or worries. That way you can concentrate on school, not on worrying about the car.

Congratulations on the new ride. It is probably not much of a step down from the '02 240 as far as creature comforts and ride in any case.

Oh yeah, feel free to pop back on and post pics of some chicks with your new ride!!! That will make sure we look at the car....

Good luck with your new Camry. I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Yaris Hatchback. A very nice car to drive around the city in stop and go traffic. I still have my 2001 C240 which I plan to keep for a while. I have been also lucky in that I have no engine or real major electronic problems so far, other than the stepper motor and the front SAM going bad. Maybe one bushing as I recall.Even basic maintenance is expensive on these cars unles you do it yourself and search through the internet to find the cheapest parts. These cars are appropriate for someone like me in his late forty's, no mortgage, no family obligations, no car payments, a fairly decent paying government job; other than that I would have sold the car a long time ago.
Oh and the car was bought new by my mother, who still prefers to drive her 1990 Toyota Celica ST or my new Yaris over the C240.

Thanks everyone. I got a free tint and an extra three years of free oil changes on top of two years of free maintenance from any Toyota dealer, for free. Toyota is pretty desperate for business after their recent incidents!

I agree.. I almost jumped ship for a Mini Cooper S - that's a fun car.

Lane, enjoy the new car!

Hey lane - congratulations on the new car. For a good reliable ride you won't be sorry. My sisters kid I told you about in Vancouver has had zero hassles with his.

Stay in touch on the forum. I know there will be another Benz in your life after school. Sorry we did not win with the 240.

Don't - by 2003 C240's were totally sorted. 2000, 2001 & some 2002 cars were trouble.

My car is approaching 7 years old.

Only repairs:
2 X front castor bushes - under warranty - known problem
1 X tranny plug washer to stop an oil weep.
1 X right rear stop lamp a week ago.

Great car!

Thanks everyone! Don't sweat it, Glyn. We tried! Besides, it's the MB dealership's problem, now! Toyota sent my C240 to the nearby sister dealership, MB of Orlando. They can have fun running all the compression tests they want, along with changing the coil packs and wires, while sealing my oil leaks. Not my issue.

I'll be right here. It's not like there's a kickass Camry forum around here. hahaha.

The camry was definitely not my first choice. My parents let me have it my way with my first car, and I lost more than half the value of the C240. This time around, I was to get a car that was: roomy, safe, and reliable, all while being affordable at the same time. I can't complain, though, very comfortable car.

Factory tint, alloy wheels. Many things that came stock surprised me, like the hydraulic hood lift, projectors, and the aux port, which I am digging very much. I didn't even have a cd player in the c240. :/

Lane your Camry should also have knee airbags. Sorry, but this is a step up guys - not down, even though I'm assuming it's an LE I4. A new car just feels, well, new. And even the most obsessive care of a car with some years under its belt can't replicate the solid and tight feel of a brand new one.

A Camry's a good car (better than an 02 C240 in every single way, IMO) and will give you plenty of very good, safe, reliable years. You made the right decision.

Congrats Lane, you did a real smart move...not worth trying to sort out all those problems and hey 7,500 isn't bad at all for a trade in.

New camrys are nice, I like the front end refresh they did in 2010 it makes them look alot less boring. The interior is very nice on them to, I like the plasmacluster, does yours have that?
