Seen other solutions for sunroof malfunction but this is slightly different...
Shade is working normally, but glass panel remains open.
Can hear motor working but not connecting to panel...
Have used manual method but only moves shade panel
Appreciate any assistance

Out Of Control!!
First you need to determine the fault. We can all guess and produce reams of posts that do not produce a solution---find an indy with the applicable test equipment who will define the problem then you can spend a couple of weekends fixing the problem---my guess is a rodent ate the motor!

If it only moves the sunshade, you're turning the wrong motor.
ie with a wrench right? Push the window, turn the wrench.
Sunroof is on the left, well on mine at least.

Problem solved for now.
Motor is not fully engaging with glass panel linkage. Upward pressure required while turning the wrench has got it back into the closed position.
Thank you for your assistance - closed sunroof for zero costs

There's a ghetto fix that involves opening up the sunroof gearbox and adding a washer to "force" the non-engaging gear into the correct position. My understanding is that the external case warps if too much stress is placed on the system, which leads to the gear sliding out of position.
With that said, be sure to keep that sunroof greased. There are 2 products required - a thin watery one and a thicker Vaseline-looking one.
000-989-36-60 Special Sliding Compound. My understanding is that it's actually Krytox GPL105. There's a white grease version GPL-205. Dealer will have it, but so will eBay or some chemical supplier.
001-989-46-51 Lubrication Paste - ECS Tuning sells small containers of the stuff. The dealer only has this product in a large can (enough to do hundreds of cars) for some stupid reason.

Eventually they all fail. Did the fix, and mine finally gave out,
closed for good, and motor disconnected.
Well at least until I have a garage to work in.
