Steering wheel paint Peeling
Is there any fix to this? The top of my steering wheel.
Via where my hand goes the paint is peeling off badly.
It looks like crap is there any fix spray or do i have to replace it and buy a new steering wheel?

you might want to research on 'leather steering wheel covers'. If you don't like those, then you may just have to change the steering wheel.
I've been thinking about the same as well (for my '04 C320). I hope others will suggest better ideas...

Are you talking about the colour coming off the leather on the wheel???
Use Gliptone Scuffmaster or similar. Brilliant waterbased leather recolouring. Works a treat. They have all the Merc colours.

Yup. I have the same problem. Top center steering wheel.
It looks like paint, but it's not. The leather went bad probably from the sun exposure or perhaps it doesn't like sweat from palms using it (wear and tear).

Guys, I took some pics of my wheel.
that looks nasty, I know, but it was also worsen with a leather paint I bought at ebay that was "special for mercedes black leather"
This sucks!
And I took this pic with the new wheel already installed..
I bought it at ebay very cheap.. it came from a 2007 and it is in very good conditions...
Installations DIY instructions can be found here: http://www.marcusfitzhugh.com/CLK/DI...gwheelrem.html
I just have to clean the new wheel with ArmorAll to remove the dust from it.

Glyn anyone here used that leather paint?
I had the same problem, i just bought a leather cover, the one you have to use the needle and the thread ( since i have used them pretty much on every car that i owned) and it looks and works great! cheap too

Your original wheel looks grey underneath. Something strange going on there - whatever you did it with did not penetrate the leather. The leather looks fine. Gliptone would fix that perfectly back to black. You could even apply it with an air brush.
New wheel looks OK though & it was cheap so that's fine..

I have fixed up many seats on Jags & Mercs that had the colour removed by mainly big course jean's zippers on modern designer jeans. It's fixed those without a trace.
Steering wheels on SA built Mercs have local leather & the colour goes right through. So a good clean with mild detergeant followed by Meguiar's Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner or Autoglym fixes it.

I know of no one besides myself on this forum that has used Gliptone. This forum is majority US based. The restoration guys in the UK use it by the gallon. If leather has cracked then nothing will work but if it's still intact Gliptone works very well if you listen to them on application & preparation. Cracked leather is improved but never correct.

But, does it come by color or "one bottle fits all"???

Look at their website under Benz.
http://www.liquidleather.com/auto%20colour%20bank.htm
They will also match anything you send them a sample of. They will also send you a standard colour with toners on either side so that you can match for sun fade. They will ship anywhere.
With respect to other comments on this thread - The British understand leather better than anyone.
