EMERGENCY! AMAZING OPPORTUNITY, FREE COMMAND UNIT, PLEASE HELP.
I know there are many threads on all this but after searching I could only find bits and pieces, and right now thats not enough. I have a phenomenal chance at a FREE command unit.. with a catch..
a friend totaled his car, he has stock navi.
THE PROPOSAL:
Remove his head unit and replace it with mine, now I have navigation..
I was so excited I was up last night removing my center console already !!
This is where I need your help. When I go to remove this unit can anyone please advise everything I should have in my possesion before walking away from the donor? I want to make sure everything is present for a direct swap into my car.
Thanks guys!

To be honest, you need nothing. All you need is the unit. The DVD should still be inside, and if he has HK or CDC, hopefully you have it as well so the MOST ring will be active. I think the stock GPS antenna is routed throughout the car, so it's easier to just buy an aftermarket underdash antenna on ebay for about $10. Besides that, you plug it in, and smile from ear to ear. There's no vin coding or unlocking or anything else needed either. If you want the nav menu to show up on your center screen you'll need the SDS (I don't care for it so I never did it). It's gotta be the easiest direct swap known to man (shocking on a mercedes too).
