The Bridgestone is probably the marginally better tyre but there is nothing wrong with the Firehawk at that price. The Alfa guys in SA favour them. What amazes me with the Firehawk is that they don't squeal at all in hard cornering. (on an Alfa)

They are both non directional so ideal for rotating corner to corner. I think they are both built on the same or very similar carcass. You are trying to save bucks so why not get the cheapest. BTW - I see the Bridgestone is on special at Tirerack.

Well according to Luke, the Firestones are directional..
He's saying the Firestones have a smaller contact patch, and the
Bridgestone's perform better, BUT I read a review posted by a
Firestone employee, (and he admited that) where he said one of the cool things about this
tire was that they could pull a 1G in a corner.
Not sure what that means exactly, but apparently that means they grip like mad if you push them, and from the other reviews it appears you can get amazingly long life if you go easy.
So sounds like the best of all worlds, where the tires wears according to your driving,
not just what kind of rubber it's born with.
Yikes! The Sumitomo HHRIII's grip like MAD but I only got 5K in the rear and 10K in the front before they were gone.

If a tire can keep it's tread when you drive easy, and kick in on the corners when you need it, that sounds like pure magic.
And no trammeling, and very quiet? That sounds prrrrrfect!
And $400 a set? Wow...actually I saw them even less than that somewhere.
TR is 450 delivered. Tires-easy is 425 delivered.
Tires easy can be a gamble though.
They're like parts.com, just a broker for tires.

I have heard good things about the Sumitomos, so if that's what you got out of them, you must be very hard on tires. If that's the case, I'd pick the cheaper of the two. My general view is that cheaper tires end up being just that.

Luke is correct - The damn Firestone is directional. Just looked at my friends Alfa & sure enough there is the rotation arrow. The older Wide Oval's were not.

Buy the Bridgestone then.

yeah saying a tire does a 1g means little. It all depends on the car and suspension settings. The Evo X MR on stock yoko's did a 1.08 in car and driver and the new TL type S did a 1.1 as well.

I'm leaning towards getting the RE760 once my new wheels come in. I was looking at the Conti Extreme Contact DW but alot of reviews say the steering response isnt as good as they expected and the sidewalls are pretty soft. If you pick up the wheels before I do lmk how they handle.
