So, some muffler shop in West Covina? Cracked open the casing of this c320's stock muffler (the top apparently), did something, and sealed it back up... and the result was beautiful.
I ask for ND2020, as he has a c320 Sport, and this sort of thing would be right up his alley.
Here's the video

What in the hell did they do?? I want to be able to help him describe this to a shop here so he can have the same thing done.
Thank you

I like that it doesn't seem any louder inside the car. Would like some drive by videos though.
West Covina is about 10mins from me. Might have to stop by and ask some questions.

You should!! It'd be great to know, since apparently this has been an in-house trick of this muffler shop for some time now. The rest of us need to know.
Laneshift is prolly right tho, maybe removing insulation and patching it back up.

If I don't have anything going on tomorrow in the afternoon, I'll make a run over there.
Found another vid. Still no drive by shots though....

Nice find c63. Im really impressed. If I hadn't ditched my stock muffler already, I woulda done this for sure. Who needs aftermarket when the stock has this waiting to be unlocked?
Appreciate you going to check it out!

Mine friend did that to his old turbo eclipse. They just removed the packing and insulation in the muffler to give it a more straight through design, kind of like a high flow cat. It really doesnt cost too much. Most indie exhaust shops will do it for less than 200 easily.

Needless to say I'm going for the quiet approach this time. It's nice to be able to hear the radio, and myself think while driving.

My old daily driver, an 02 Camaro SS (cam/heads/headers/OR-Y) was lots of fun, but it's so nice to have a quiet drive in my w203! I can relax and/or focus or something else other than trying to ignore the smell of unburnt gas and sound of fire & brimstone coming from the tail-pipes (which ultimately droned throughout the cabin and my brain).

Hey guys!
Sorry it's been a while but I've been working a new job and security there is so tight that I can't have my laptop or even my phone on while in the building. Guess that explains why I'm hardly on here these days.
Anyway...
Yah, the shop that did it was Valley Muffler in West Covina (it's more on the edge of city of industry/nogales than west co). They were really cool to work with it and offered me a great deal since I'd been going there since I worked at an old speed shop across the street 10 years ago.
Here's a glimpse of what they did.
They basically opened the muffler and removed the baffling. There, we had a few options on making it a bit louder or more quiet. I opted just to gut the thing and go for it. It was pretty awesome. It wasn't near as cool as running no exhaust but who here is crazy enough to do that? lol
Anyway, it sounded great for the time that I had it. There was no drone in or out of the car and it really seemed tame when not on the throttle.
Eventually, I went for a Renntech exhaust, sound pipe and chip tune because... well... I wanted Renntech. lol. It's a bit louder but nothing compared to an Eisenmann Race or Milk4man's muffler-less setup. It's actually quite comparable to Remus (I think Remus made a line of exhausts for Renntech)(well.. or so I've read here).

Who did the tune? Was their a noticeable difference over stock after said mods? My buddy on here ND2020 has an 04 c320 sport and Im always razzing him about doing exhaust and/or power mods.
So I saw your video of the Renntech, sounded pretty good. DId you ever do anything about the two large tips kinda haphazardly hangning out under the exhaust cutout in the bumper?

There was a definite sound increase, especially when you were liberal w/ the gas pedal. It's a subtle difference and is definitely an improvement over stock. It's a similar change to when people do a resonator delete.
As for my Renntech exhaust, yes, I had a buddy of mine trim the exhaust opening so that my exhaust would sit evenly in the opening. It's not as clean as the dual tip on the 06-07 AMG rear but it's fine for me. I figure if I really wanted, I'd just get the 07 rear bumper but I'm fine until then.
