Passenger side mirror parking memory

I read in the owner's manual that we can turn the passenger side mirror to position in a way that it could assist us in parking but on the picture, it shows a memory button at the door side and it is only for those memory powered seat. Can my car with manual seat do the same as those with memory button?Any help will be appreciated.Dragon Baccarat System

I believe you get the tilt-down passenger mirror only with the power seat/memory package.

I have asked one of the techies to try to turn it on his car that doesn't have power seats, waiting to see the results.

if you want to do it yourself, when in for service, ask them to hook up the DAS and try and find the setting and change it from NOT PRESENT to PRESENT and see if it works. Search the posts here for some DAS screen shots, its probably in the ICM menu sub-system.

I wonder if we can turn the rain sensor on by setting the rain sensor to "PRESENT" from DAS ....

I think if you don't have the memory option then it won't work. The position that you want the mirror to go when in reverse is stored in memory. Part of the process of storing the position involves pushing the memory button that you won't have without the power/memory seats.

rain sensorx

Hi Bajaiman,
Rain sensor is an option, probably they won't turn it on if you did not have the option at the time of purchase. Dragon Baccarat System

If your car doesn't have the rain sensor as an option, it isn't there. Setting it to "PRESENT" will do nothing.

Mirror

Hi R4NDOM,
After carefully read the owner's manual, I discover the small little asterick that denote that it can only turned on with power memory seat. Thank you to all in replying to my posting.Baccarat88

This won't work... if it did, I would be heading for the dealer Monday morning to see if they can program the DAS computer to turn my C320 into a C32 AMG.

I dunno about this... someone with DAS please try it - after all, Mercedes would never put the 3 button key electronics in a 2 button plastic sleve... would they?

Seriously, give it a whirl. I miss this feature (bmw had it). The electronics are all there to do it - reverse sensor and motors what more would you need? Maybe a small memory chip.

I did try it, as you can see in the thread "What's the SOUND sound system?" It doesn't appear to work, although I am still wondering if it has anything to do with my manual transmission. Does the car still know when you are in reverse with the manual trans? I have been waiting for someone with a 6-speed and power seats to say if their mirror works.

I have a 6spd and power seats. The mirror indeed tilts down in reverse.

Your thought is correct.

The mirrors on a car with a memory driver seat comes with an adjustment motor that has 7 wires connected to it where as the non memory adjustment mirror motorts only have 3 wires connected to it...not a single change that the auto tiliting down feature can be activated through the standard 3 wires...it is controlled by the memory feature and it's additional 4 mirror motor wires!!!

So for the question on everyone's mind (well mine anyhow) ... if we refit the mirror housing with the 7 wire motor... assuming there's a plug for it, will the reverse mirror tilt thing work - without the extra seat memory electronics?

That would be an awesome hack mod!

The mirror won't know where to go. The electronics have the user defined reverse-down position stored in it.

NO...otherwise it would already have been installed on my C250D a long time ago...

Those memory wires are not present in the non memory cars anyways...neither are the control units....
