Alex's Tune by OE Tuning W203 C230 m272

4 Attachment(s)
On Saturday I dropped by the Gintani Facility where OE Tuning is at. Jeremy is the the tuner whom tuned my car on the dyno dynamics. I have the OBX Headers (with resonator deleted) and K&N drop in filters.

I wasn't sure what to expect since I did not dyno without the headers but from the tune, I did feel significant difference. It is much more responsive! Yeah I can't say much as the 2.5L m272 did not produce much hp to begin with but my end result from stock to now with tune is a significant difference. The tune actually woke up the extra few whp that I did not have before. I am actually very pleased with the tune and I can't stop with the WOT haha =)

If any of you So.Cal people need a tune, PLEASE!! Hit up Jeremy @ OE Tuning. He is a super cool guy who understands how to tune! I'll be going back soon though~

Eurocharged was not able to tune the 06 or 07 c230's whoever wanted to tune it at their own home through internet. You have to send in your ecu =(
NOT saying they can't tune, just not over internet with just the OBD cable.

But yeah, This is where I am at with tune and headers tuned by Jeremy :y

Hope fellow C230's m272 have better info's now about the tune :D

C63 Dreamer 04-11-2011 03:24 AM

Interesting interesting. I imagine the gains with neither headers or exhaust would make the tune worth it on my car.

LILBENZ230 04-11-2011 03:56 AM

Interesting, I had not seen a baseline dyno for the V6 230. It looks like it puts down a steady 10whp more than the C230K, but as much as 15-20ft-lbs of torque less in stock form. That explains why the 230K is about half a second quicker to 60 and in the quarter mile - something MB official specs acknowledge but members here deny.

Damn, I really wish I lived somewhere close where I could get a tune on my M271. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Yeah I talked to Jerry for a bit, he got some 06 and 07 to work remotely. But I didnt mind sending it because I had other stuff done that could only be hard tuned :y I'll probably drive down there at some point when I get my custom intake and headers on. I would go this weekend since I'm heading to houston but its to see a friends new baby and my gf wouldnt let me slip off to go there lol

Just overnight it :D they can do it same day it arrives and ship it out same day to you.

I was really more thinking out loud.. I don't plan to really do anything to my car except drive it into the ground. Anything that might have even a slight chance of jeopardizing its complete reliability is not something I will do.

It was really nice meeting you Alex on the weekend. Happy driving!

9 HP, and 10 ft/lbs increase. Seems like a sensible conservative tune to me. Interesting to finally see a M272 E25 dyno on here.

W203E35 04-11-2011 05:41 PM

Gains are pretty impressive. I'm surprised at Baseline with just the headers. I think overall with headers and tune you gained low 20s - mid 20s (hp)

BenzoBoi 04-11-2011 06:09 PM

Jeremy does great work. Glad you liked the outcome! :y

aigooalex 04-12-2011 02:11 AM

Yeah wish i Dyno'd without the headers before too! but over-all man my car is much faster. My little brother drove it when it was stock and got to drive it again with the tune and headers and said it feels like a different car. I found out that the car started to react better progressively and right now i'm running on E85 to see any difference and there was a slight difference just i'm burning a **** load of gas cause i seriously can't stop the WOT haha. It's an awesome tune and loving the car even more and can't wait to drive whenever i get the chance.
Seriously, i have power through out the entire rev and keeps on going. Smooth ass car =)

oh yeah i was researching... that dyno dynamics is known to be called the "Heart Breaker" lol

phister 04-12-2011 02:27 AM

E85... just make sure your fuel lines are ok, E85 has been know to eat through some OEM fuel lines. My friend had to replace all his in his turbo civic.

W203E35 04-12-2011 02:31 AM

Yup, to be safe multiply your number to 1.15 then add the 18% drivetrain loss and you'll roughly get your crank hp. Keep in mind their dyno reads very low so 1.15 should be a little lower.
I dynoed 198.2 baseline and 214.8 tune

198 x 1.15 = 227.7 (dynojet)
227.7 + 18% = 268hp

214.8 x 1.15 = 246.1 (dynojet)
246.1 + 18% =290hp

You will never know exact power unless it's on an engine dyno but this is close enough. Also remember theirs reads a little lower.

With those same calculation with headers you were at 223hp and with tune you are 236hp

I'm very impressed. Time to come to Cerritos meet and race some stock C230s :)

I hope my calculations are correct. Does your car really feel you gained 30hp with a tune and headers? :naughty:

Dude you have no idea how much more responsive my car got! I do feel like I got 30hp more and I'm actually planning to go with a cat-delete just to see how it will look when I go back to dyno it with cat-delete and E85 :y
Doing the tune and headers was the best money I spent for my car =) Feels real good :zoom:

Yeah man when are the cerritos meet Karo? Jeremy was talking about you too. He actually tried using your map settings on my car first but it was no bueno's lol so he had to re-do it :D

W203E35 04-12-2011 03:07 AM

When are you going back? I have to go back to see Jeremy soon too.

phister 04-12-2011 03:10 AM

what you gonna do now karo?

draz.amg 04-12-2011 03:13 AM

guess i know what one of my next mods is going to be. :naughty:

car/numbers look good! :y

W203E35 04-12-2011 03:14 AM

I'm waiting on a PM. If I get good news then the Cale mod. If I don't or the mm is small then just stop and say hello :)

phister 04-12-2011 03:15 AM

yeah tune is one of the best things you can do to these cars. really wakes them up!

W203E35 04-12-2011 03:17 AM

What's interesting is Alex got way better gains from headers than I did. I wonder why? Does compression play a role? I know you guys have higher compression than us 3.5 guys. I'm still confused

phister 04-12-2011 03:18 AM

yeah yes the cale mod. I'm still looking for the tb and manifold. gots to keep my eyes on the look out for them. I'll probably retune my car once I get my intake mod done. I might drive down to Houston and have them retune and dyno it so i can see some numbers.

W203E35 04-12-2011 03:18 AM

I know our 3.5 engines don't breath enough maybe that's why?

It might be due to higher compression but I believe he removed his cats and resonators so its straight pipe almost. I dunno if you have your cats removed or not.
