Niceguy's C230K

Just starting a mod thread guys so I can keep track. Of course the big mods will take some time on a budget but yea.

2004.5 C230K

Date Purchased: May 31,2011

First off was hardwiring the radar. 6/1

Secondly I bought a 6000k hid kit. 6/3

Then I painted my grill flat black and removed the middle stem. 6/7

Next was 25% tint front windows and 20% for the rest. 6/7

Coming in this weekend is my GM25 flat badge from Jbspeed.

Next list would be: front lip then a nice drop. Probably in next few months or so.

Thanks for looking!
Constructive criticism, compliments, or suggestions welcomed!

Looks nice. With the grill mode you may want to think about removing the star on the hood... it may also look kind of unique if the star was black

Grill look great. Can you give us some tips on how we can remove the middle stem? I would like to do this to my car as well. Thanks

most likely he dremeled it off and then maybe did some fiberglass or bondo work, sanded it down and then painted it.

Yup exactly. I had access to a heat knife so it was easy. Just cut between each row the stem. But after u cut, there will be holes where you cut it off, since the stem is hollow. After u cut, there will be a lot of straight edges on yhe chrome part and i just sanded and rounded it to flush with the rest of the grill. I then filled them with bondo and sanded, primed, and painted.

Updates on the car:

7/11 Flatbadge emblem

8/22/11 - Picked up a used pioneer avic d3 for $200! So installed and voila! I love the way it sits flush and looks oem. will have a better quality picture later

To Do list:
-Amg body kit with lip or a reiger lip for the avantgarde
-Lowering springs just to close the wheel gap.
-18/19's
-HID retrofit with new clear lens

If you guys like the modified oem grill and want it, shoot me an offer and get it out of my garage =P
i've like the big star grill since i first looked into getting the car =]

but next mod, I'm thinking of getting the amg front end.

I also modified my stock shifter to make it look more "up to date" bc the all black looked so cheap. here's a pic

Here's how OEM looks without the chrome bottom trim

Here's after: no need to invest a bill in an aftermarket when it can look decent with just a lil paint =]

new stuff 1/28

Update: Since I have a 2004.5 with amg brakes, I decided to make it look more amg . I bought a used 2006 amg front bumper on ebay for a whopping low $130! Minor cosmetic flaws such as rock chips and license plate holes, but I'm pretty good with detailing so will get those out soon. It's still not complete yet. Already have mesh in the fog light areas but I'm planning on leaving the middle area open.

Soon to come when I get my tax return:
Coilovers
Projector retrofit
and some nice wheels

Enough talk here's a picture.

Put the center mesh back on. Larger debries impacting might puncture the radiator.

Also you should look for the round fog lights for the amg bumper instead of using the old one hiding it behind the mesh.

Yea car's just sitting in the drive way right now until I finish it up so I won't dirty up the intercooler. But I took out the fogs completely, they're not behind the mesh. I've ordered the meshes and fogs, just waiting for them to arrive now.

Cars looking nice, crazy what a difference the new headlights made. Going back to your first post; does your radar actually tell you when your getting near cops adn all? How does it work? I bought one and it would beep when I got to red lights but thats pretty much it.

my radar doesn't point out in the direction where the cops are, but it does have 360degree detection. So it just shows when a police speed radar is near.

Thanks! The avicd3 does have bluetooth capability, but it's brain you have to purchase separately.

DRL and Updates

Update: Even though there have been some mixed feelings on the e-class drls...I decided to go ahead and try out these $30 ebay drls and see how they look. its obviously not the same direction as the e-class, as I chose to make it contour with the our class bumper. I actually like the way they look. definitely different then the oem amg fogs.

I also got some H&R coils and ready to put them on as soon as my spacers come in!

Well here are pics of the drls. as soon as I can, I'll get some daylight pics.
