My little boy has stuck some coins in the CD tray and I need to remove the radio, how do I do this as there doesn't appear to be any screws or slots for radio removal tools etc.

It's a 2001 C200Kompressor Avantgarde Spec with standard Audio (Becker ?)

You might want to STFF the forum for Audio 10. Session (mod) did a complete thread with pictures that should help you out. It should be applicable to your setup.

Thanks for the tips. 20 minutes to remove unit, remove coins, relace unit. Magic !

As an aside if I replace the unit with an aftermarket MP3 unit, say Sony or Panasonic, will I lose the steering controls and dash indicators. More to the point will the dash show up an error, the car seems to like showing you when things just aren't quite right !

You will lose steering wheel controls and the dash will not show an error. When you go to the section of the menu for the stereo it will just show lines like if you don't have the phone.
