2003 C240 Driver's Side Lock

I would like to determine if two issues I am experiencing are related or separate. Any information members can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Symptom #1 - My vehicle is experiencing what has been referred to as "pogo-actuator" in the driver's side door. When the vehicle is unlocked via remote all doors unlock as expected. However, when the vehicle is locked via remote all doors lock except for the driver’s door. The driver's door lock pogos up and down several times in rapid succession. Additionally, after the pogo behavior completes the driver's door is often not truly locked. Upon further investigation I found that the lock's physical position prior to button press determines success of the door being truly locked after. If the lock is riding high the door will not lock. If the lock is riding low the door will lock. If the door is not locking properly I can push the lock down with the door closed, repress the lock button, and get a successful lock.

Symptom #2 - When removing the backup key from inside the wireless remote and inserting it into driver's door manual key mechanism, I have found the lock to be completely frozen and unable to turn either direction.

If I replace the driver's side lock actuator to resolve the pogo issue, will it also fix the frozen manual key mechanism, i.e. are these two issues related?

Thanks all!

Pogo Lock Fix

Follow-up: I was able to resolve Symptom #1 (pogo lock) by performing the following three steps. Symptom #2 was an unrelated frozen lock cylinder, which I've decided to live with.

1) First, I purchased a set of W203 Door Lock Actuator replacement springs off Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z1PR0WU?keywords=door%20lock%20actuator%20spring&qid=1449595512&ref_=sr_1_2&s=automotive&sr=1-2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z1PR0WU?keywords=door%20lock%20actuator%20spring&qid=1449595512&ref_=sr_1_2&s=automotive&sr=1-2

2) Second, I performed SeaCoupe's actuator removal procedure for both the driver and passenger door lock actuators. Thank-you SeaCoupe!

3) Third, I performed the W203 Door Lock Actuator Repair procedure in this video, showing how to install the actuator replacement springs.

4) Lastly, I reinstalled everything in reverse order.

Comments: This job is not terribly difficult, but it is tedious. Read/watch the provided links several times and verify you have everything before beginning. Most importantly make sure you do not mix-up the driver side springs with the passenger side springs. Do one door at a time and if possible match the removed broken spring pieces to ensure to correct replacement spring. Give yourself plenty of time to patiently perform the job by allowing 1.5-2hrs per door. Good luck!

Thank you for this. I just picked up a used 2003 C240 to beat around in, and the pogo actuation is alive and well.
