Comand 2.0 for C240
Picked up a Comand 2.0 on ebay for 235 bucks today. I cant wait for it to come in so I can get rid of the boring radio currently in it. I was going through all the install DIY's for it and it seems pretty straight forward. I just have a few questions. Right now on my back window I have a fin shaped antenna, is that the GPS antenna, or is that radio? Also i have the part number for the C1 C2 adapter (w2035400909) where is the best place to buy this from? I called the dealership and they wanted 78 bucks. Or if anyone has an extra one laying around that would be pretty awesome too.

If you read the diy you would know the gps antenna is mounted under the dash behind the cluster for less interference.
Rear antenna on the window is for the tele-aid.
Getmercedesparts or rmeuropean may or may not have c1 and c2 plug. You'll also need the gps antenna.

Factory installs used a gps splitter and the same rear antenna for gps signals for TeleAid and COMAND. I've only seen that done in one other retrofit besides mine, but I am sure there are more. The under the dash retrofit antenna works well I'm sure, and probably easier to do. YMYM.

Yeah do the under dash one and FYI you don't have to buy a Mercedes one you just need one with the special connector I bought one off ebay for $15 much cheaper then the Mercedes under dash one.
As for the C1 and C2 connectors finding them will be a pain but RMeuropean can usually order stuff they don't have on there site. The extra crap to do this will add up so do shop around once you get a list of all the part numbers you need. I also recommend buying a few extra pins then you need because if you are like me you will drop/ break a few and you don't want to have a job half done and have to order more parts. I ordered 3 extra of each pin and used all but 1 of the extra ones. I did the whole job in about 1 1/2 hours with a pair of needle nose, torx screwdrivers and some electrical tape. It is not fun but the end result is awesome. I did the whole thing just to get an aux input but I did may next to nothing for the command unit so I can't complain.

I bought all the parts I needed on GETMERCEDESPARTS.COM. C1 and C2 wiring harness cost me 47 bucks, AUX plug was 37 buck, got a few pins and screws. All in all it was around 100 bucks for the parts needed. Oh ya and I got a GPS antenna for 12 bucks on ebay, only bad thing is darn thing is in China so I have to wait till March to do the install. But for 350 bucks for everything including the Comand unit & 6 nav discs, I cant really complain. I will post pictures of the whole process as I am doing it for others to see.

Well I got my navi in the mail today. it looks pretty good except the volume knobs rubber has started to come off pretty bad. cant complain for 235 bucks I guess. Does anyone have a suggestion for replacing them, is it a fairly easy thing. I think they are screwed in from behing the unit, unlike previous cars I had where I could just pop them off the face. I guess I could buy some black interior paint and repaint it?

You are going to have to refurb that knob. Replacement kits are no longer available.

Holy crap! That knob is almost 15% of what I paid for the comand
Do you know if the knob thats on the tape deck in my car previously is the same as the comand? cause that would be pretty darn cool.

You have to disassemble the front of the COMAND to replace them, if you can still get them. Glyn may well be right. I got mine from a place in Germany. At one point my write up had a link to a site with a walk through and the place I purchased the knobs from, but no promises the site is even still active.

I know the Comand, Audio 10 & Aircon controller knob kits are no more. For aircon you have to buy a new controller.
