Dual intakes?

The '03 1.8l has room for 2 intake ports, but only one is open and active (left). Do any MB's use both?

Yes, that's true. And the 2.3L engine only uses one, but it uses the opposite side as the 1.8L.

Thanks. It doesn't look like either will fit too easily on the 2003. I was looking because the "pipe" on my car is full of sand. I will grab a pic later on today. I have no idea how it got so dirty in 4-5 months, I don't live in a desert climate or anything. While I was looking at the setup I noticed the duals.

Thanks,
Erik

My left side intake is drilled out because I had a K&N cone in there for a while, and it let more air get to it, since the airbox connects to the supercharger on that side.

My 05 c230 also has room for 2 air tubes but only uses the passenger side. do they sell any aftermarket Y cuplink to connect another fabric tube to the existing oneand conncet it to the driver side. I looked at the picture of the v6 w203 hook up but it seems different. Does the v6 intake connect right in place? Sorry for my ignorancebut I only saw a picture of the intake.

So all i have to do is find someone that is selling there old v6 air intake setup. I will be able to use the passenger and drive side hookups with the fabric tube from the v6. Are there any adjustments I have to make to the v6 tube. Would you happen to have a picture or know where there is a picture available?

I don't know if you all had a chance to look inside the 1.8L I4 air intake tubing.......but it doesn't use the full "mouth" of the "exit" There is a baffle that re-directs the airflow half way through the "mouth". I wonder why they made it this way?

Here's a diagram of what it looks like......maybe someone wants to go take a picture and show the actual thing. I'm too lazy~

I will definatly look in that tomorrow. You see where your red lines are, do they sell a new Y hook up to attach another fabric hose to the driver side. There is only a plate that can be knocked out and you can run another tube. Has anyone done this. Does the v6 model work like they were describing. What model and year v6?

I'm thinking about cutting the baffle inside the "mouth" of the air intake exit. So it uses the full width of the air flow. I'll let you guys know what happens later

how do you attach pictures? I took a picture of the plastic blocking the driver side vent. Well I finally knocked out the plastic that was blocking the driver side vent. Now I need to find some one that is selling the original plastic piece that slides into the vent for the driver side. I believe the passenger side should also fit the driver side. Anyone?

When you hit "Post Reply" and the window comes up to post your reply, scroll down on the web browser to the bottom of the web page where it says Additional Options. There is a section that says "Attach Files" and gives you the valid file extensions that can be attached. Click on the Manage Attachments button and it'll bring up a separate window where you can attach whatever picture you want to attach.

Hey thanks Drex. This is the black plastic piece blocking the driver side vent. I couldnt wait to knock it out. Now I just need to find an OEM plastic piece to go in its place and then continue with the fabric tube and some how connect them to the vent box. I read on one of theses threads the engine flexs on the driver side so that is wahy they left it block but maybe I can leave enough slack on the fabric tube.

Yes, that is why the crossed over the the other side of the car, if they were to go straight, it would not leave them with enough room to play. The V6 air boxes are set far enough back that that is not an issue.

BabyBenz, those baffles are most likely there to help stop rain water from flying into the air box. With a ram air set up and no baffles if its raining thats all going to fill you air box with water. Think about drilling some drain holes if you decide to take them out.

Fabric Hose

Anyone know the part number for the fabric hose for an '05 C230K SS? Mine is starting to "unravel." Estimate of the cost to replace? Perhaps a DIY guide?

You cannot buy just the fabric part alone from the dealer. They will only sell you the entire intake connection ie, the connection to the front hood area + fabric tubing + connection to the air box. I replaced mine recently and dealer sold me the whole peice. let me go check my receipts and i'll come back to edit my post with the part #.

Sorry, I can't find the receipt atm, but here's a link of the whole intake assembly. #3?
