Can't close the Hatch !!!

Folks - it's 94F out here here in Nova. I just loaded 7 boxes of lighting fixture and CANNOT close the hatch. I tried slamming it down, gently pressing it down, half of strength, quater strength, full strength... Every which way I could think of. Just cannot close the damned hatch. Drove it home the hatch ajared.

Did the STFF and went thru 27 theads. None told me how to solve this problem.

Any help out there? Hate to go to dealer for this hassle.

Thanks

Take the boxes out?

Press the green button that is on the inside of the hatch, left side. You must have accidentally pressed it when loading your cargo. That button disables the lock.

I tried again today

with the hatch space empty. Green button [ressed and hold for 3 seconds for good measure.

Trying closing again and keep count.

23 attempts folks !!!

Using various level of force and hand(s) placement point. Finally got it to close with a very powerful slamming. Both hands at 6 inches from the middle of trunk lid pulling down so hard I thought the license plate might jump off the frame.

I am afraid to open the hatch again.

It is much coller this morning - Can heat expansion be a big part of this problem?

I know that when it gets really hot, my hatch becomes harder and harder to close. I simply figured that this was due to the heat expansion of the material inside the lift tubes (whether it's hydraulic or air, i have no idea).

try adjusting the strike plate in the latch.

I had a similar problem last summer....the hatch release (green button) would not reset it. Simply click the latch assembly on the hatch. The clip that holds it closed somehow suffers from heat expansion, which wont allow it to retract completely into the open position.

It gets very, very hot here in south Louisiana, but I have never experienced the problem. how about rolling down your windows and then slamming? Perhaps your vents (is there such a thing?) got clogged, and air pressure is your foe. I know, it's far fetched.

Haha, same thing happened to me. Use the lil key for the glove box and pull the lil clicker down...and you will be set!
