C240 subwoofer install pictorial

I wanted more musical quality and not so much slam in your face. I started with a pair of MTX 12" shallow subwoofers (TT6512) and a Sound Storm Labs EV2.1000 amplifier. I keep my trunk space, have plenty of control and its cost effective.

I contructed the sub box out of MDF. It is built to fit between the fender well braces, follow the slope of the trunk floor, angle of the back seat and still meet the recommended .75 cu ft per sub.

I used PL Premium polyurethane adhesive and my nail gun to build the box.

Install the amplifer with rubber isolators to aid in vibration control and better air circulation.

Run the power wire through the firewall on the right side of the passenger footwell. I pushed one of the plastic plugs through so the wire would fit.

Pulled power direct from the battery. I left the stock cable in place and just used a ring terminal and another nut to hold it.

Completed the wiring. It is grounded on the factory ground lug on the right fender well.

When tucked up and out of the way, there is still plenty of trunk space.

All done, clean and neat. I still need to fine tune the settings, but so far I like it.

How did you get signal for the amp ? is it from the factory one ? I thought we have to use the PAC ?

The factory subwoofer is fed with a full range signal and uses built in low pass filters to achieve the low bass. See the pic. The caps and inductors form a simple low pass filter.

My amplifer has built in high level inputs, so I can just use the factory signal feed that used to go to the factory sub.

The basslink can take a high level speaker input. Just feed it the OEM non-Bose sub signal.
