Daylight running lights question

Hey guys,
Really noob question. What are those things for? Can I take em out and put daylight running lights in there? If not, where can I put them?

Mind have the Front Parking sensors on them. I dont know if they came with them in the USA.

Those are your impact strips. I don't think you will be able to put DRLs in there and even if you could it wouldn't look to great IMO. Some people put them in fog light mesh area, but I have never seen it done in place of the impact stirps
