Check engine light just came on. P0075 and P0600

So the dreaded light came on last night. Computer shows "no malfunctions", but I've got these codes. Car has been dropping into a "half power" type mode off and on for a couple weeks. Not sure if it's actually limp mode because I thought limp mode pops up on the instrument screen.

P0075 = Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit.
P0600 - Serial Communication Link error.

Only found one post with the P0075 code, but it didn't answer much that I could tell. And it looks like the P0600 may be some internal glitch that comes up with other codes sometimes.

Anyways, anyone got any ideas?

I know you just re-did your top end so this is a long shot, but have you checked out the harnesses from the camshaft position sensors to make sure ther is no oil in them (there's a TSB/recall about this). It could be as simple as a flakey connection on one of those connectors.

Also, this most likely has nothing to do with it, but if it were me I'd check the wire harness off the transmission connector that leaks - logic being in case some oil got up in the TCU and is causing a communication error.

If there's no oil in the TCU harness, I might try just re-seating the connectors for the cam position sensors, or maybe replace them.

And yes forum members, I know the oil/TCU is a wild a$$ guess but I've seen wierder things and is something he would want to check anyway...

P0600 as you said just sometimes comes up with the other codes so I'd assume that will clear when you can get rid of 0075.

I am immediately suspect of the cam solenoid oil contamination. Do you have the isolation wires on?

Mercedes added my car to the recall and have several cars here, though I think 03 should be covered. You may want to contact a dealer.
