Kick up a stink with the service manager and demand reimbursement. There is no question that they will stick together on the issue but if you make enough noise they will probably do it..$200 is not that much for them to reimburse. Someone on another forum recently had a camera stolen out of his car during service (why you would leave such property in your car is beyond my comprehension) and I think eventually they reimbursed part of the cost.

I left a $300 radar detector in the car and someone stole it while the car was in service. I complained to the service manager, the service manager's manager, and they agreed to reimburse me $200 in dealer services. Conveniently, I had just put on new wheels and suspension, so I had my alignment done for free, and many other things for free. Just keep complaining until you get something.
However, it is the person's fault for leaving something like that in there.

Blueice....was this at FJ in Newport Beach? Twice I had all the quarter/meter change taken there. The second time I called them and they were appropriately embarrassed and apologetic and offered to replace the change and fill up the car with gas. I wasn't the only one to have the same complaint. You think I'd learn the first time

funny how housekeepers in hotels don't steal a thing in ur room while MB service guys DO. we aren't going to local car wash, valet park at some club nor going to honda dealer for service. MB dealers should train their employees not to steal. But then again, they are STEALERS.

one of the reasons i hate going to the dealer is that i have to take out all my stuff. well, after so many visits, i just don't have anything in my car except three things to remove: sunglass, V1, and cd changer mag (yes, they steal cds too).
btw, by not having any stuff in the car helped solve 80% of the rattles in the car.

next time you guys should lock everything up in the glove box or trunk and give the service guy the service key, not the owner's key. that's what the service key is for.

Anyone could just walk off the street and take stuff out of your car...as far as anyone else knows they could have been simply someone looking to buy a new car and happened to mistake your car as being one on the lot. Its just common sense to take everything out of the car when putting it in for service. In fact, my SA always tells me to take every thing out before I hand it over.
