i was wondering if i should buy this?
i have a mercedes mechanic who is factory trained which can look at it..just wondering about maintenance and repairs.. (most parts are cheap but sum are super expensive)
difficult to repair? more labor?

To restore that car will cost a lot more than it is worth. Unless you love the things don't get into a restoration. You will seldom recover your money unless it's something exotic.

You have to devote a lot of time and money into one of these
You would need very deep pockets to have to pay people to do it.
As stated above the completed car will not be a good business proposition but you will have a great deal of pleasure completing the project .
The question I would ask myself is do I want a pristine car completely rebuilt from the ground up or would you be happy with the much cheaper option of having the car just in a safe running condition .

OT:
First MB in our garage was my late father's clean and straight '68 280S.
Dual Solex carburetors instead of Bosch injection, but that car was as solid as a bank vault and fast.
Especially for an unlicensed 13-year-old. :D
