i was wondering if i should buy this?
i have a mercedes mechanic who is factory trained which can look at it..just wondering about maintenance and repairs.. (most parts are cheap but sum are super expensive)
difficult to repair? more labor?

The 280SE is a wonderful old car. Let me give you some advice. Buy one that somebody else has restored & enjoy it. They can't ask it's true value.
To restore that car will cost a lot more than it is worth. Unless you love the things don't get into a restoration. You will seldom recover your money unless it's something exotic.

Very expensive to restore and parts have to be ordered from Germany usually. My friends paint shop fully restored one and it took months for the parts to come in. They restoring a classic Porsche right now and it took 6 months to get the weather striping for the doors.

If you can do most of the work yourself it would be an excellent project .
You would need very deep pockets to have to pay people to do it.
As stated above the completed car will not be a good business proposition but you will have a great deal of pleasure completing the project .
The question I would ask myself is do I want a pristine car completely rebuilt from the ground up or would you be happy with the much cheaper option of having the car just in a safe running condition .

i just thought i could drive until it goes to the ****s...even if it was for 1000 miles ...40 year old benz ...haha it would be an honor just driving it

OT:
First MB in our garage was my late father's clean and straight '68 280S.
Dual Solex carburetors instead of Bosch injection, but that car was as solid as a bank vault and fast.
Especially for an unlicensed 13-year-old. :D
